I was checking the stats of some free agents and was impressed by his numbers this season. Scored 14 ppg on 28 minutes. Shot around 40% from 3 pt land, 80% FT. Grabbed 8.6 boards.
And he is 6'11", 250 lbs.
I thought he was shorter and thinner. It's essentially Larry Sanders body.
Could Bobby Portis be an option for us ? Can he play center ?

I like him and he plays with an edge but I doubt they sign him given his character issues aka punching a team mate .

He's an awful defender. He's unswitchable and terrible at reading the pick'n'roll, which is a very bad combination. Doesn't offer rim protection, he's slow and clueless helping the helper. Reputation of being bad defensively in college and surely lived up to it in Chicago. Really doubt anything changed in a couple of months in DC.

And he scores with below average efficiency. His efficiency actually declined last season.

Plus, he's a RFA so he won't settle for a bargain contract.

Portis is the kind of player I'm hoping the Lakers sign.

Among Washington FAs who can't defend, I'd much rather gamble on Jabari Parker. At least he has that raw shot-making talent. On the verge of becoming a very good scorer if he develops a 3 point shot.

Don't like his defence. Like his off-court actions even less

Yeah but, Randle makes Portis look like Bill Russell on the defensive end.

I don't actually think this is true. I find them to be as bad as each other on defence. Randle is a much better scorer and passer however, and way less character issues. I'd much rather have Randle

Technically, wasn’t his bad conduct on the practice court 🤣😂

Does he really have consistent personality issues or is everyone talking about that one particular incident?  I haven’t heard much other than that.

I did not know he was an awful defender. Don't follow Bulls or Wizards very much. I was talking about him based only on his stats and some highlights.
But if he and Randle are equally bad on defense. I would prefer Portis, I think his 3 pt shooting fits us better than Randle's driving style

If both Randle and Portis (among others) are all bad at defense, then can someone name me a player anyone will be happy with?

Just curious....

Brook Lopez?
caulie-stein?
bryant thomas maybe, maybe?
steven adams?

though let's face it. if the celtics brought in bill russell in his prime there would be at least a few people on CS who would complain about his lack of a 3 point shot.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

And they'd say Russell was undersized....

I read an article that said Portis was a good player on the Wizard. He was playing defense, embracing his roll, and getting along with teammates. There is analysis on YouTube on Wizard's FA that goes over his play and stats for the Wizards. They want to keep him but they can't afford to as they need to focus on keeping Bryant.

Now I don't know if he is playing nice or has finally got it together. If he has got it together than he can be a solid guy off a team's bench. I expect his price tag is around 10 to 14 million per.
