Remember what happened the last time Ainge threatened to draft Phillys guy? They paid us the Lakers/sactown pick

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/nba/news/2019-nba-draft-grades-team-by-team-picks-hawks-grizzlies-pelicans-spurs-earn-as-but-suns-get-a-d/amp/

The worst-kept secret around the league was that Philly loved itself some Matisse Thybulle and had potentially promised him at 24. So Boston threw a wrench into things, drafting him at 20 and holding him hostage. The Sixers caved, surrendering the Nos. 24 and 33 picks to the Celtics. Was Thybulle worth it? Defensively, yes. But offensively … probably not. If the D can offset deficiencies on O, then great, but that's a massive risk for a bigger if. Grade: C-

He hasn't played yet. Need to wait it out.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I don't think you call a second round pick a robbery

I thought it was an awesome move for both clubs except I don't like Thybulle at all for the 76ers. Think they should have grabbed Windler. Then C's lose out on Clarke.

If Edwards turned out to be a very productive player, then its a steal.

Both teams got what they wanted, though some say Ainge drafted Edwards just before Philly was going to. No question, though, Danny is a great drafter. The Tacko sign came out of the blue. That should make the summer league an interesting watch.

Interesting indeed!

With Rob Williams and Tacko in the paint, I wonder if opposing teams can even get a shot off inside the paint.

We turned no20 to 24 and 33. That is a fair deal.

i think your bar is set too high for the 33rd pick. It will be a big deal if he makes the roster.

BTW by your logic it could be the other way round if Thybulle ends up even part of a 10 men rotation

They ll have a party from the 3p line with Tacko struggling to keep up with the rotations

I'll post this here as well.

https://section215.com/2019/06/22/philadelphia-76ers-carsen-edwards-boston/

From the article:

Could Edwards conceivably spend the majority of his rookie season on the bench? Totally, but it’s just as likely – probably more likely – that Edwards ends up replacing Rozier’s role as Boston’s backup point guard, playing very meaningful minutes behind Irving, Marcus Smart, Malcolm Brogdon, or even Scary Terry himself (though after this ESPN appearance it seems very unlikely)

Malcolm Brogdon? Did I miss something?

Mike

Many experts consider this draft to be “flat” meaning the talent level is practically the same throughout the entire second half of the first round into the early second.  In that sense,  Danny basically turned one pick into two.  That’s a great deal.
