I'd find a spot for him just for practices. Letting the Jays learn how to finish over him would be worth its weight in gold.

Fast forward to a game against the Jazz: Jaylen goes hard at the rim, drops it off over Gobert....easy. he regularly practices against a guy who is 5-6 inches taller with arms that are 7 inches longer  8)

I've loved the kid since he gave Duke fits in the NCAA's. I'm sure Coach Stevens will get the best out of him.

But a thread that is nearly 8 pages long about Tacko should tell you about the impending doom for this team if Danny can't hit some home runs in FA.

If celtics think that timelord has the ability to be our reserve center why not keep tacko as a third..? Embiid will think twice to drive inside

He's one of the biggest basketball players we've ever seen. You have to wrap that around your head a few times to realize it

Watching the video, this guy is dominant near the basket. He stays around the basket defensively and makes it difficult for anybody to shoot over him.  That's the way he has to be played on defense. The rim protector that the Celtics seem to ignore every year, while they get burned on the boards.

On offense, it looks like he's athletic enough to move around. Outside, inside. He probably can't shoot from much more than ten feet away, but he can get a ton of easy baskets feeding him near the rim. Not to mention ORs on missed 3s.  You keep a guy like that around the basket in and out of the paint. You really have to build your game around him some.

Why didn't he go the first two rounds? I have no idea. I understand he did a good job on Zion in tourney play, and was very effective against Duke and KY?.  That other big kid Bol fell because of his foot problem. But this guy is bigger and more athletic, though not an outside shooter.

Danny needs to take a serious look at this guy.

His feet is gonna get hurt just running down the floor no-contact.

It's what killed Yao Ming's career. Being over 7'5" ain't that fun in basketball.

That's a real concern for these big guys. Even a "little" guy like McHale wrecked his feet from too many minutes.

Embiid had problems that took years to fix. And now his knee is a chronic problem.

Chamberlain never had any problems, and he was almost as big as this guy. Russell didn't , either.

Tacko looks freakishly athletic for his size.  He hasn't had any problems so far, but agree you have to watch his minutes.

An Exhibit 10 means he'll be signing with Maine after Summer League unless he gets a NBA contract - players get a $50k bonus if they sign with the club G-League affiliate after being waived. Plus whatever he makes until then and GLeague salary - probably more than he'd make as a first year player in Europe and an easier transition to pro.

I assume the Celtics  have exclusive priority on signing him to an NBA contract.

wilt was 7'1" and russell was 6'10". neither was close in height to Tacko.

Tacko, by all accounts, is unable to guard the perimeter and camps out under the basket. he also has not, to date, shown he can shoot beyond 4 or 5 feet from the basket.

hopefully he develops a decent range shot.

but for now, i see him as a specialist. someone for particular situations while he learns to play nba basketball. he is a project, but might contribute in the certain situations this season.

I think his minutes will watch themselves.

I mean, what can it hurt? They didn't draft him but he has legitimate positive size. Maybe we luck out with this guy. How have our 2nd round picks panned out lately. He's a 3rd rounder.

McHale wreaked himself playing on two broken feet in the playoffs and He said if he had to do it over he would. McHale is my favorite all time Celtic.

its gonna happen

the last second lob into Tacko standing , rather ducking under the rim , reachs up on his toes and shots it though ....every kids dream.

no matter how he plays ......just being on the team at home games is gonna make every 10 and under kid want to go to celtics games.  He ll draw a crowd , if he is good with kids .  He ll be mobbed for pics .

he could be a very good ambassador for Boston basketball. Putting him on the team could be a good business move.

Just think of the last second out of bounds play with Tacko standing by the rim!
