No, Stevens has been a victim of Ainge's bad decision-making.

I do expect him to eventually take the blame, unfortunately.

The goal is to challenge for a championship, not be over .500. If the team is .500 in the regular season the year after losing two all stars in free agency, yet hasn't parted with any major trade assets, continues to develop its young players, and has cap flexibility going into the next offseason, I'll be fine. That is, I won't feel the need to "blame" anyone.

I'd probably put more of the blame on Ainge, since he's picking the players. Though Brad's decisions (rotations, sub patterns) often leave me scratching my head.

Are we assuming the roster stays as is and everyone stays healthy? Before you can have this conversation lets see what the roster looks like opening day. I mean 41 wins with Time Lord as your starting center sounds like Coach of the year to me!

Hard to say right now because we don't know who Ainge will add to the team.

But as things stand right now it looks like it's going to be a youth movement, so I don't think that a finish at .500 would necessarily be an indictment on Brad.

The NBA is a three point league. Losing 2 exceptional 3-pt shooters and one that is not so bad will make for a tough season. Stevens can't control that.

Blame runs all the way through the organization, Brad included - but not on any one specific person.  If they go into the season as is, they finish well under .500. Doesn't matter who coaches them.
