isn't per 100 possessions a better leveling measurements since it adjusts for pace?
Yes for pure comparison purposes.

But the reason per36 became popular is 36 minutes is about what a high level starter "typically" plays. Its used to try and translate to a level that people are comfortable with.

Funny thing is, with the way mpg per game has declined for the average starter, it should probably be rescaled to per32, or something like that.

I mean, last year there were a grand total of 4 players who averaged 36+ mpg. Bradley Beal led the league at 37mpg, and he would barely have cracked the top 50 in the early 2000s.

later he sang "Things have changed".

32 should definitely be the number now. TP.

Yup, also 9 to 10 more possessions per game on average as well as we've moved into a much faster era.

Romeo is only 19 has that 6-11 wingspan any chance he can still grow .Also i watched a high school video and game footage versus Zion and there were claims Romeo had a 43 inch vertical. Because there were no combine results can anybody confirm that
The kid certainly has a scoring pedigree.        .

From observing his athleticism I doubt he has he a 43 inch vertical. If he does, he should stay grounded. He's injury prone as it is. Tony Allen kept showing off his jumping prowess. His super dunks led to a painful ACL injury that didn't help his career any.

He does possess great timing and positioning for blocking shots. Reminds me of Al Horford in this regard. His long arms and his efforts make him a pesky defender.

The pre-draft scouting reports indicated that he could be lackadaisical and not have his head in the game at times. Haven't noticed this in the slightest. That's encouraging!

Highlight link - Zion vs Romeo in high school. 6 minutes 45 seconds
FYI: The video gets redundant and boring after awhile.

Nice article on Romeo:

https://hardwoodhoudini.com/2019/12/29/boston-celtics-romeo-langford/

I got to say the opposite, this is a terrible article.  Wouldn't even call it an article, just a padded blog post with no insight.

It’s important to remember Romeo was averaging 35.5 points per game just a year prior to averaging only 16.5 points per game as a college freshman. Taking a dip in production for a player entering the draft after just one year in college doesn’t necessarily look appealing to NBA scouts.

It’s also worth mentioning the overall sample size of Langford is extremely small. Before drafting the young guard, all we’ve seen from him is four years of high school and one year of college ball.

This is describes just about every prospect ever.  Is there any major prospect whose college stats don't take a dip from high school (especially when scoring 20 or 30+)?  Zion averaged 36ppg his Senior year in high school, then only averaged 23 in college, are scouts worried about this?  Taking a dip in production from high school to college is expected, not something that raises any concerns for scouts.

Small sample size of four years of high school and one year of college?  Just like every one-and-done prospect ever.

Whole thing reads like a low effort high school report.  Save yourself the 2 minutes and skip it.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Unfortunately that is the state of most sports blogs. Thankfully not here; most of the time at least, but the grammar errors and redundancy and logic errors I see other places..SMH.

Our own Kendrick Perkins averaged 27.5 points and 16.5 rebounds a game coming out of high school. He was drafted without the benefit of a small sample size college career. Scottie Pippen was drafted out of Central Arkansas. Bottom line is that you either have NBA talent or you don’t. Not every kid that plays for Kentucky or Duke will make it in the NBA.

Gotta agree with bdm. That is a terrible article with no insight and parts that insult the intelligence of the reader.

I can write better articles than that.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
I saw Romeo Play in High School. He is one of the best I have ever seen. He is no James Young.
He can guard people now, IMO.

Wow, the haters.  First off, it was a review of one of our players, assuming, somewhere around every week they are writing one.  Second, I've read some of the articles written by people here and let me say, many of them are elementary level and I wonder how much of the game the writers actually watch and understand.
