Langford has much a better handles than I thought. Looks strong driving/finishing with either hand.

He is much more bouncier than I thought also.  And if his 3 point shooting continues to be nuts and bolts

Boy did Danny come out like a thief from the 2019 draft

OMG .... you and I agree ....we both  can't be wrong ..p .LOL....watch out ....Romeo will be on the all star team.... Hee Hee

Romeo half way turning the corner is very refreshing in the midst of our injury woes.  Another solid game or 2 and he may turn the corner all the way.  If he plays hard with limited mistakes and gets some buckets...the crow eaters can start their meals.

Needs a lot of work on his body, like Grant. Needs lower body strength in particular, and better shoulder flexibility. What happens when Hayward and Smart return?

As for Boston’s draft, it looks real good to me, too. Looking increasingly likely that the Celtics got four players with rotation-on-a-playoff team upside, and Romeo, at least, with starter upside.

People have gotten too caught up in whether or not players are making shots, so a guy like Grant was viewed as a failure until the ball started going in for him; likewise, little injuries have affected Romeo’s visibility to fans, leading to suggestions that he’s injury-prone.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

I agree with some of your points

But not on Grant needing to work on his body

The guy already has a better body than like 75 percent of the nba players today

Can’t agree completely, though I’d have trouble giving him a percentile. But I expect he’ll lose the baby fat and get better hip flexibility in short order. Changing ends quicker will help the offense and the defense as well.

I don’t discount what you’re seeing - I love his solidity, his physical defense, his lower body strength, his willingness to get under opponents, mix it up, bump the roller, etc.

It’s so hard to separate out the physical and mental, isn’t it?

Apropos, his obsession with the game (when they needed him to guard 5’s, for instance, he already knew the playbook - very impressive) suggests an exceptional work ethic. I bet his body looks transformed in Pre-Season 2020.

Romeo a plus 19 vs the Raptors still made his shot on the charge. Liked they way he got over the top of screens and can really move his feet. Very good three games.

Probably needs to gain a little more confidence. He seemed a little afraid not to make a mistake on most of his touches.
He’s miles ahead of James young  :D

good defense ....long arms are causing trouble in passing lanes , add Haywards lenght plus Walkers quickness ....it gets hairy trying to work in the paint against the Celtics .   Now if we could just get Williams where he is heathly things would be nice.

NBA scorers struggle most with the second level of scoring--the floater range.

Most guys can hit an open three. Langford will get there. His rookie-sophomore off-season will be important for that.

But Langford brings the impressive body control and feel required to make shots at the first and second level (the rim and floaters).

I really think he will be a high-level scorer in the league. That doesn't mean he will win any scoring titles, but I think he can definitely bring scoring to a championship level team. I could see him being something like a Jrue Holliday player--not a pure point guard, but a lead ball-handler that can get some scoring done.

Can we definitively bury this ridiculous comparison to James Young now? I've never seen such a nonsensical notion be passed around about a player before (Jaylen Brown=Jeff Green was close though). Romeo isn't even the same type of player.

There's always going to be minutes for Romeo if he's healthy and capable. We almost always have 3 wings on the floor, and Brad rarely plays a guy much more than 32-34 minutes. Romeo will get his chances to shine.

I don't see how anyone can't be encouraged by the last few games.

I've been so impressed with the defense. He's a guy who has been the best scorer on every team he's been on, the fact that he's been so good so quickly in an ancillary bench role. Coming into the year I thought he would be a scoring guard who isn't able to do much outside of score. I completely underestimated his energy, he's really making a point of getting to loose balls and available offensive boards.

He's going to get the opportunity to score in the pick and roll, and once that happens he's going to be an extremely useful player.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Unless we make a move for another big man, I could see the following rotation/depth chart moving forward:

Theis / Kanter / Time Lord
Tatum / Grant Williams
Hayward / Semi
Brown / Langford / Javonte
Kemba / Smart / Wanamaker

Basically, if Langford is holding his own and doing good things out there, I continue to fee him minutes because he has more upside and long term value for us than either Wanamaker or Green (both of whom I like a lot as long term 3rd string team members).

Tacko, Javonte, Waters and Edwards in the continued development mode.

One note on Mo Bamba. His per 36 numbers read 13.5 points, 11.9 rebounds, 36% from three, 50% from two (probably gets better with strength), three blocks and 1.5 assists. With this team the key thing we need is defense and rebounding at the center position - would he be worth trading for and for what?

Romeo moves like an NBA player.  For such a young guy, he seems to have good instincts.  He’s showing a lot more than he anticipated.

So Smart's role is being reduced to a 15 min a night backup?
