Ainge couldn't draft his way out of a paper bag.

He drafted Olynyk over Giannis????!!

Bwahahahaha

Nice going, number 44!
Guess all the other GM's who selected other players ahead of Giannis are bad drafters too then

Mommy, all the other kids jumped off the bridge, so I did too.

Hey man...this is the bash Danny Ainge thread. I'm letting off some steam
Just seems like an old gripe to be bashing him over.
Bashing him for not pursuing PG13, Butler or Kawhi because he was waiting for AD, only to get outbid makes more sense to me, but whatever

Well, watching Giannis tear us a new one in the playoffs this year when he could've been on our team, kind of opens up an old wound.

But I agree with your point about Kawhi as well.

Danny’s drafting after pick 10 scares me.

Ainge drafting before pick 1 would scare me.

I'm not that down on not acquiring Davis (unless they can convince almost every available veteran to sign for SFA, the roster depth is putrid), I'm not convinced he has championship pedigree however, I am concerned about the apparent lack of direction the Celtics have under Ainge and Stevens. Are the Celtics rebuilding or do they believe they're in championship mode? because right now, it feels like they're having an each way bet with neither course presenting as obvious. Furthermore, the outcome of the Brooklyn trade doesn't feel anywhere near as good as it should.

This.

They built a championship-caliber team. Then Hayward broke his leg.

Granted, the Hayward injury was a stroke of bad fortunate but Boston needs to put multiple deep runs together before we can consider them championship-caliber. One swallow does not a summer make.

For sure. But that was the direction - they built a team that looked the part of contender before Hayward went down. Then he went down and a lot changed. But you can’t say Ainge is stuck in two directions because of anything he predicted or did - no Hayward injury, who knows. But this isn’t the “defend ainge” thread so I guess I should stop  ;)

I don't think the Celtics are big enough up front right now to be a serious contender. They have a big hole in the paint.

Well, that's why acquiring Clint Capela makes sense.

Not at the expense of Horford. The idea is to pair him with a legit big. Baynes and Horford were so effective last year. We can't rely consistently on Baynes.

I'll bash him if he selects some obscure wing or guard over Bitadze at #14.

I didn't say anything about trading Horford for Capela. Capela would be a huge upgrade over Baynes however and those 12 games that he played last season.

Didnt trade Terry and was smart not to. Thinks Tatum is future super star..love the vote of confidence...did not bend over and give away our future in hopes Davis would grow to love Boston as that was never going to happen after Kyrie’s experience here.

Except that Rozier is not a good player. Also, Tatum and the word "superstar" are hardly synonymous, based on what we saw last season.

Well it's official. He failed. Defend him if you please. This was the last domino. I listened to Larbrd plead with me that this has always been about Davis.

I agreed I'll wait until the end and the end times is here. Fire Danny. Hire Masai at all costs. GM more important than Stevens that's for sure.

No Paul George, Butler, Davis, Cousins, Kawhi. Fire Danny!

The best GM of the Celts since 2003 is (drumroll please)...........Kevin McHale
