Call it a fitting end or poetic justice for the Warriors dynasty.

They benefitted from facing an Irving-less and Love-less Cavs in 2015.
They played dirty injuring Kawhi Leonard in 2017.
They got lucky the Celtics were without Irving and Hayward in 2018.

All their guys minus Curry went down with brutal/nagging injuries.

Get out of here with that nonsense.

The warriors built a great team without top of the draft lotto picks. They changed the league with their pace and space offense and their switching defense. They broke the regular season record for wins.

The Kawhi injury was one player on one play.  The Celtics in 2018 would not have had a chance regardless of injuries.

The 2015 finals would've been much closer with love and Kyrie healthy but I'd take the warriors in that match if all the warriors players were available for each game.

The warriors are what every franchise and every team should aspire to be. They're the team of this decade.  We will be super lucky if the Celts are ever that good, with that kind of chemistry and heart, for even a single season, anytime soon.

Five straight finals runs clearly took their toll. The warriors broke down in this series. Even so they didnt let the raptors win easy. They fought to the bitter end.

Im so bummed to hear about Klays injury. I hope we don't have to wait long before we get to see the splash brothers and Draymond playing together again at full strength.

Considering that the warriors lost the next year against LeBron and the Cavs, it was probable that they would’ve lost in 2015 and who knows what would have happened if Kawahi stayed healthy in the Spurs series.
Yeah and the 2015 Cavs team was the best Cleveland team.  They had the most and best depth of any of the teams (plus obviously Lebron was younger).  There is a reason the Cavs took a game without Irving and were in the 4 losses (plus they won game 1 without Love) and it wasn't just that Lebron was a monster.  That team was very deep.  They lost that depth as their run went on.

As for the Warriors, suck about Klay.  He is the one Warrior I've always really liked.  I think they make the playoffs next year unless the extra wear on Curry causes him to breakdown and miss a lot of time.  Curry is just too good for them to miss the playoffs.

would be funny as hell if Steph and Draymond won the title next season regardless.  They will still be one of the best 1-2 punches in the NBA.  Steph should try to average 40ppg.
How much better are they than Kyrie + Al? If you thought our supporting cast was garbage you mustn’t be fond of theirs at all
Well they can just let Klay and Durant walk and use their cap space to sign a 3rd star.  Lol
Sure, they could sign a dollar-shop Klay in Middleton, but that's really the only guy I can imagine going there
That'd honestly be a very good signing for them since Middleton can play SG or SF, giving them more flexibility in pursuing a complementary SG/SF. Curry/Middleton/Green is still a contender if they manage to build a deep supporting cast around them.

Sign middleton and danny green

Steph
Green
Middleton
Draymond
Cousins?

That is a beast if a team still with steph as the nuber 1. Green and middleton can lockdown defend and knock down 3s. A very dangerous team imo.

Maybe. I see that team on the same level as Denver, Houston and OKC. Utah also have some cap space too I believe

True. The team’s future depends now on what KD does. If he exercises his player option for next year GSW won’t have room for a free agent like Middleton under the cap. If he leaves they’ll have room, but only if the warriors let Thompson walk as well.

I see them a cut above those teams assuming that they manage to get a starting level SG/SF with the MLE. I believe that Curry can still produce at an MVP caliber level, and Middleton can be his dollar shop Klay (in terms of defense and three point shooting) with better shot creation. Add in a healthy Kevon Looney at C, and that's very close to what they had in 2015 and 2017, which were finals teams. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and still put them in the tier of "true contenders".

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
It'll be interesting to see the narrative if GSW doesn't at least offer both Durant and Thompson max contracts (and somebody else does). It'll give off a 'thanks, but no thanks' kind-of vibe that will run much deeper to the core than the Cs trading IT to a championship contender to be a starter.

On a related note, imagine if they both end up in NYK and the Knicks just punt this season down the road and get another top draft asset. It would be a ballsy management move, but still one that should pay off in the end.

Anyway, get better soon, Klay - total bummer for him going into true FA.

Losing 2 top 20 players in the league for a year in 72 hours. What a hit for the organization.
I feel sad for KD and Klay.
I always respect them, I didn't need a tragedy to appreciate them. I never thought they cheated the system or anything, like majority over here did. They are just trying to win chips, as players should. Sad to see it coming this way.

Have to think Houston keeps their team together now.

Lakers might be willing to over pay for AD now. They will be in a good position with Lebron and AD.

Don't know if it's the end for them.

They still have a duo of Steph Curry and Draymond Green who by themselves can push the Warriors to a decent playoff spot. If he can still do what saw in Game 6, Andre Iguodala just takes over Klay Thompson's spot until he returns by around March. There's still a core of a solid team there. And who knows, maybe Boogie Cousins stays, even for a measly $6 million salary?

And if they play their cards right in Free Agency, who knows?

Lakers are going to be more motivated to get AD. Going to give Griffin what he wants.
