What... how does this make sense? Horford can do everything that Capela can do, but Capela can’t do much of what Horford can... y’all need to watch a Capela game I’m not at all sure why y’all want him. It’s not like he’s going to progress. He is what he is, there is no like potential there. A big who can’t shoot will kill us, this is legit a step alll the way back.
Capela turned 25 less than a month ago and just averaged around 16 and 13 while Horford's entering his mid-thirties and is likely out the door this summer if Kyrie walks. Getting a starting big that fits the timeline of the young guys for someone about to walk for nothing is more about asset preservation than finding some missing key to the team.
Horford isn’t going anywhere and even if he was Williams 3 can easily do what Capela is doing. Fitting the timeline is one thing, fitting the roster is the other and fitting the scheme is another. Capela fits nothing but the timeline. I’m really going to be curious what team is going to trade for him, because he really didn’t get paid that much for being a restricted FA and has shown no signs of adding more to his game.
This isn’t right. RWIII has shown some *potential*, but also a very, very underdeveloped sense of the game. It’s not just that he misses rotations (which he does), it’s also that he often doesn’t know the play on offense and can’t set screens.
I assume the only reason the Cs would consider this is if they struck out on AD and Kyrie and Al told them he wants out to chase a ring. Capela is young and just signed longterm to a reasonable contract. Either he works out better than expected in our system or he’s a decent player on a tradeable contract. I don’t know enough about his game to have a lot of confidence but his stats show he knows how to convert at the rim and I understand that he rebounds and plays defense. Not a world-beater, but not a bad team asset.
If the alternative is to see Al walk in free agency, then yes I’d rather have capela. It’s a contingency plan, I think.
