Hey Cap people, if Brooklyn renounces Russell's rights and he becomes a UFA would there be anything stopping us going after him if Kyrie walks?

Yeah, being able to pay him. We could do a S&T with Irving ($20.1M), Yabusele, and pick(s) for a S&T of Russell ($27.5M), but that isn't going to happen.

Anyway, this blows if you're a logical Cs fan and don't want to lose a top 15 player in his prime for nothing. For the rest of you guys, I guess you'll get what you are wishing for.

Yes, cap space.

...or not. We will still be over the cap. You should know better by now.

Unless you are referring to the original point of being able to sign Russell.

The question: Hey Cap people, if Brooklyn renounces Russell's rights and he becomes a UFA would there be anything stopping us going after him if Kyrie walks?

My answer: Yes, Cap space

We share same answer on this one.

Your post definitely read more like a response to his question of what we get for Kyrie walking.

That was my fault for being too lazy in finding the original post. That’s on me guys. I’ve been so disconnected with Kyrie for weeks now to the point I don’t even read things about him. I literally didn’t even read his response to the original question.

Okay, I apologize. You can see how I might think you were responding to my last sentence about people wanting Kyrie to walk.

Either way, this is a big blow to this team next year. AD, Horford, and Hayward should be enough, but it doesn't seem promising.

EDIT: tps to mqt and razzel

I really cannot see Smart as the starting PG on this team. Would rather see Hayward run the offense.

Ainge prolly knows what Kyrie is going to do directly or indirectly. Hope he has a decent plan.

Yeah, being able to pay him. We could do a S&T with Irving (counts for $20.1M), Yabusele, and pick(s) for a S&T of Russell (counts for $27.5M), but that isn't going to happen.

I think Kyries outgoing will count as his previous year salary plus either 20% or 50% I can’t remember so it will be either $24M or $30M outgoing

Well if anything, all it says is that Kyrie is serious about the Nets. It doesn't necessarily mean he's going there but he has them on his list.

It’s not that I didn’t understand people’s pojnts in not wanting an asset to walk for free, I have just been past that to the point that’s I knew there was a huge possibility of it happening. If Cavs lost Lebron TWICE, and OKC lost Kevin Durant. Which let me understand that once these guys hit FA the odds for compensation is near negated.

The Celtics have been winning trades for a while now, it’s about that time they finally loss 1, but it’s ok. It’s definitely not the end of the word. It’s not like Lebron leaving Cavs and we stuck with a bunch of pieces that don’t fit. We have players who are ready to play and play hard. The next thing y’all are just going to have to brace yourself for is Smart being traded. Once you are prepared for that then you have to prepare for Rozier being the starting PG. just trying to get ahead of what’s going to happen guys.

I do not see Smart being moved if they are not going after AD. I also do not see Rozier being brought back for any reason.

Yeah, I can't see Smart starting at PG either. There just isn't enough ball-handling and driving ability on the perimeter with him as the PG.

They need someone with more quickness who can drive and get into the paint to create. To force the defense to adjust.

Otherwise, it is just going to be a whole load of one-on-one play against set defenses.

Dang. I was hoping for a irving for crabbe and the pick.

Boo.

Sure looks like nets are setting up nicely.

Surely the front runner for kyrie, and they believe it, with this trade being completed.
Pg/sgsf/pf/c is set. Either butler or durant to follow?

I wonder if atlanta will move some picks?

I was hoping for that trade too. I wonder if Ainge didn’t see the benefit of it or nets don’t want to deal with him
