Now that I have your attention, and before screaming back "NFW!!!", consider this:

LaMelo has quietly climbed up the 2020 Mock Draft Board (NBADraft.Net) to the 3rd pick. That's right, the third pick!!

Why? He apparently is really balling it for a team in Arizona this past season. He has grown to 6'8", and become an incredible passer and play maker. Like his brother Lonzo, but with a better handle I feel. His passing is amazing, like Lonzo's.  I still think Lonzo is going to be a really good PG in the NBA, by the way.

The bad news: His shot is almost as funky looking as Lonzo's.  Similar hitch.  Don't know what his shooting percentages are.

And yes, he  has the same psycho dad.

Still, I am intrigued by him, and feel his stock could fall just because of his father.  Look at some of his passing skills in the tape below, and let me know your thoughts.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Pass on LaMelo. He still plays like he does at Chino Hills; taking dumb shots, and trying to be more cute on his passes which leads to turnovers.

I don't even think LaMelo puts half the effort that Lonzo does on defense, which tells me he's unable to adapt or stop being spoiled.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply

Son, I ain't better than you, I just think different

He look like he has his dad's personality, not Lonzo's who is more down to earth.
So pass for me.

I think LaMelo has always had the most potential in the family. But probably the least disciplined. A lot will have to change for me to want him on the Celtics.

He has definitely grown since I last saw him. Is a legit 6'8?

That's the first thing that jumped out to me.  I thought he was supposed to be a shooter, but his form looks terrible.  It's gets results though, I guess.

So some quick LaVar Ball bashing.  This guy is supposed to be a personal trainer and a basketball coach.  Part of his shtick is he raised his boys to be basketball players from Day 1.  Yet he couldn't teach proper form?  You'd figure that's something he'd teach and correct early, before they ever had a chance to get good with bad form.   Joakim Noah might have better form than Lonzo and Lamelo.

That is the problem, he taught them earlier on to throw bombs from deep, when they weren't strong enough to do it with good form, hence the garbage form they have today.

How much did you enjoy this previous season?

Now ask yourself if you'll enjoy it once you bring the LaVar circus to Boston  ::) ::) ::)

I think Smart would kill him. Rightfully.

Huge pass on Ball. I'd much rather Wiseman, RJ Hampton, Anthony Edwards or Isaiah Stewart if we're picking that high.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)

C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Not sure what draft sites would have Ball as the 3rd best prospect in the year he becomes eligible, but I would instantly stop visiting those sites. Clearly, they have no credibility.

Never in a million years. His father is terrible and no way the Celtics need that kind of distraction

If he was worthy of being picked, I’d have no problems. I don’t have a an issue with an of the Ball kids. If they can play, they can play.

NBA Draft.net.

A very reputable draft site.

Please share with us why they have no credibility.
