Not disparaging anything IT did last season... He produced some majorly entertaining basketball no doubt.
But it is completely reciprocal, we made him the primary offensive option and he got his career season. It's not just that he gave it all to the Celts, but we also gave him the opportunity to maximize his potential. For that he should be grateful. Only point being, it goes both ways.
Even if he doesn't get his max contract he'll always have his 29ppg season.
Regardless he's set for life. You can just tell he desperately wanted that max contract status symbol. The brinks truck rhetoric didn't help him any either.
In the end Ainge made a deal that he had to make. It's tough to burn a personal relationship like that but he's the GM and it's up to him to make tough decisions to better the franchise. It's not like he tossed him out for nothing, he made moves to set us up for years.
That said I'll always appreciate the entertaining basketball IT produced last season.
