Responses are pretty much what I expected.

Like I said, I'd probably start brown and Hayward before him but though this might be an outside the box way to solve the problem.

What problem exactly are you trying to solve?  I believe we will start Crowder and Hayward and I don't see that as any kind of problem.

I think Rozier will start out as a core part of the second team along with Smart and Brown but that overtime, he may get beat out Tatum for those minutes.  I don't expect they are going to rush Tatum.  They will give him time ease in and his opportunities come in time.

My take is Rozier is more likely to get traded than to earn a starting spot.

This is weird, I know, but where is rollie? He/she starts great threads but rarely contributes to others. Seems like a pertinent topic for his/her input....

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
Rozier will not start this year. I am in the Baynes starting group. Crowder and Smart will be the death group if no trade is made. I see a trade coming.
IT
Heyward
Morris
Holford
Baynes

No way Rozier starts. He has not been good so far. Hope he makes a leap, but he is very inefficient so far on offense, and doesn't make up for it on defense.

For Sure Starters:
IT
Hayward
Horford.

The mix for other starters includes:
Brown
Smart
Baynes
Morris.
Crowder.

Some of it may change based on match up.

I would not be surprised to see:
IT
Smart
Hayward
Crowder
Horford

IT
Hayward
Crowder
Morris
Horford

IT
Smart
Hayward
Morris
Horford

depending.

If Brown makes the leap in real game situations (ie when he doesn't have to overextend his skills like summer league) then swap him for Smart perhaps.

You've been thinking about this for days now?

Well, no, that's a bad idea

Hayward is gonna play the 2
Crowder is gonna play the 3

Brown, Rozier, and Tatum are going to come off the bench

People need to start getting real around here.

Who are you and what makes you so sure Crowders starting?

He's easily one of our best players, why would he come off the bench?

I think the idea behind this thread is probably to start the most similar player to Bradley that we have on the roster. While I have seen Rozier's ceiling as an Avery Bradley type with the ability to penetrate, I think we now have better options.

I personally like the idea of Brown getting the nod, but the IT/Hayward/Crowder/Morris/Horford line-up is probably the most likely. As SL mentioned, it is possible Stevens subs Baynes in for Morris to start, but only in a Bogut (with GSW) or Amir-like role.

This makes the most sense to me.

Hayward/Horford/IT are all locks to be starting, and Crowder is pretty close to a lock as well imo.

IT/Jaylen/Hayward/Crowder/Horford is a great small-ball lineup but we aren't starting a 6'6 guy at PF.

I expect IT/Hayward/Crowder/Morris/Horford or possibly Baynes at C and Horford at PF (Baynes fills Amir's "starting" role from last season, with similar minutes)

Rozier is our backup point guard and a very valuable one on a good contract.

IT and Hayward start. Rozier and Smart backup.

With the addition of Marcus Morris Crowder (and his valuable contract) may be on the way out IMO. Crowder has a ton of trade value and we have a clog at his position/positionless.

Why would trading for a PF signal the end for our SF....?

Are you delusional? They are completely different players who do not play the same position of style

Marcus Morris has primarily played the 3 over the course of his career and while his skill set is different from crowders he is nearly identical positionally.

Morris was much more of a 4 before he went to Detroit, which was filled with bigs, so he nearly exclusively played the 3.  His style of play is a stretch 4, and he's got 3 inches on Crowder in height and 6 inches in length -- definitely the size of a typical 4 in the modern NBA.  He's not replacing Crowder -- he's much more likely to be traded himself, frankly.
