Do you trust a workout or game film more?
Game film, for sure.
But have you seen extensive game film? I honestly haven't. I don't really have the time or the patience to watch a full game of Washington Huskies getting beat by some crappy college team. That was honestly my first reaction to Fultz.. how someone THAT good that no one could stop talking about finished 9-22. Sorry, but a consensus #1 draft pick that has a ceiling of Jesus Christ
and floor of Dwyane Wade should win at least half their games.
What we see are the absolute best highlights condensed into a 5 minute loop played over and over again until it's drilled into our mind that Markelle Fultz isn't capable of missing a 3 pointer.
Most of his highlights are PnR, shoot a 3. Big deal. He's had a few where he's split the PnR double and made it to the rim like Isaiah Thomas, but Thomas does that in the big boy league, against playoff teams, on every single play.
You're drafting a kid. Most of the stuff you see will evolve/change. I'd rather draft the best athletic specimen that already has most of the tools needed. That's why I liked Fultz and don't think he sucks. I just don't see him as an absolute lock star. I can just as easily see Tatum or Jackson as stars. The trade was fantastic, in my eyes. Three is a great place to be in this draft because you get one of Fultz, Tatum or Jackson guaranteed. Plus an extra top 5 pick.
