Key is KD's knees.

Warriors have until 2021 until things start getting hard for them to keep all of Durant, Steph, Draymond and Klay.

Then one of them will probably have to go. That will probably be Klay if this season is an indicator.
Unless Klay decides to leave early.

So yeah, it will be at least 5 or 6 years until they lose their awesome foursome due to financial reasons.
Thompson is a free agent after the 2018/19 season.  I'd expect him to leave then.  You can only play 4th fiddle for so long.

He can still get paid the max by the Warriors though. So he won't be forced to leave because of financial reasons.

Warriors don't really have luxury tax issues until Klay and Green both get max deals and the Warriors get the repeater tax.

People have to remember Thompson and Green are currently 44th and 54th paid players and dropping.

Warriors don't face the repeater until 2021 then skip 2 yrs if they can avoid the luxury tax next season.

All that needs to be done
Curry 1 mil discount
Durant 3 mil for 1 yr.
Iggy Livingston for around the mle.
To be under 121 luxury tax line.

Don't know what teams would have 36 mil in space 4 yrs from now for Thompson.
Nerlens noel is about to get a max contract... someone will absolutly offer klay thompson that

The Warriors are very likely to lose Iggy, and possibly also Livingston and Zaza.

They will need to renounce just about everyone if they are going to give Durant a max deal.

Once KD opts out, they Warriors will technically only have ~$37M worth of players under contract.

With a $101M salary cap that seems manageable... But to get Durant a full $35M max they need to get their cap # down to $66M.

However Curry will need to be resigned, and his cap hold will be $18M. Iggy's hold will be $17M, and Livingston's will be $11M. Zaza's will be $3M. Add to that a few extra mill in cap holds for minimum salary roster spots and you're at ~$88M, and that assumes everyone else with an expiring is renounced.

Even if KD agrees to a lesser contract of, say, $30M per season, the Warriors would still need to shed $17M in cap holds - which is exactly the amount of Iggy's cap hold.

If they renounce they lose his bird rights and he's a goner for sure.

Zaza will likely command good money next year after his surprisingly productive season, and Livingston is due a big payday as well.

Of the three, IMO Livingston is the most likely to be back, but it's no certainty. And he is also 31, and is due for a decline.

Their bench is going to be running on fumes before long.
