Huh, that's pretty interesting. It seems like it skews toward teams that have played more games on the road, though (more road games = more oppurtunities for road wins, fewer oppurtunities for home losses), which may impact the rankings a bit

Sometimes there's as much as a 5 game difference between total games played by teams in the league at certain points in the season. Not much of a "metric", but a neat tally. Sort of just a different way of looking at the standings.
Supposedly, NBA coaches use a simple system for ranking teams during the regular season: Road wins minus home losses.Here are the current NBA standings based on that system:Warriors - +12Spurs - +11Rockets - +9Clips - +7Celts - +6Cavs - +5Raps - +4Jazz - +2Grizz - +1Hornets - +1Knicks - +1Bulls - 0Pistons - 0Hawks - 0Thunder - 0Blazers - 0Kings - 0Nuggets - -1Pacers - -1Magic - -2Lakers - -2Bucks - -3Wizards - -3Timberwolves - -5Suns - -5Mavs - -6Pelicans - -6Heat - -6Nets - -7Sixers - -12
