Maybe something like Lee, Zeller, Turner for Noah and a future first (not in 2016) and/or McDermott.  Seems like a Ainge type of trade.

Everyone knows Noah is old and damaged goods, you can bet Ainge does too.  How you do not is the question I would like to know?

First of all Geo123>> My first was published before Noah got injured. I would never trade for an injured player, who might never be the same again, but I guess you didn't read the date on my post.

I believe that both Amir and Sullinger are bad fit for Stevens System. They are both decent players, but they are not future building blocks as they are not agile enough for Stevens system. I don't see them as defensive monsters either, but they are both decent players, even though I think Amir is hugely overpaid.

I think that Noah, if he wasn't injured, would still have had a huge impact, and would have been a starter and a profile on our team. I think the reason that his numbers are worse now, than they used to be, is because he has been played in a system that he is not fit to play. It wouldn't be the first a player would flourish in a new system. But now we will never know!

I should have expanded on my reasoning.  This trade is not for Noah the player but for salary matching purposes.  Lee is at least healthy and can give the Bulls minutes along with Zeller.  Protects them as Gasol is a little banged up, and not putting too much responsibility Portis.  Turner would provide them with solid wing depth. 

This helps consolidate our roster.  After this season the Bulls will have at least restricted rights on Zeller, and we get a future first or McDermott.

I simply don't understand why some people are ready to give up assets for nothing. For instance, Amir and Sullinger may not be the best players in the world but due to circumstances like age, contract and role they do have some value. Not as the prime chip in a bigger trade but as smaller chips to boost the overall value of the deal.

Ainge knows this and he's all about value and collecting assets right now. He's acquiring solid players at reasonable prices and/or flexible contracts - IT, Crowder, Bradley, Amir (anyone seeing a pattern yet?) - in order to have the flexibility to shape a deal however the other team requires. He's not about to spend those assets on older guys who will have a minimal impact on this team before being UFAs or too old to continue to contribute.

Noah - if he wasn't injured - has a role in the NBA. But given his age, his exceptionally limited offensive game and his UFA status his role for the Celtics would have been extremely minimal. He couldn't put this team over the top. He couldn't have even won a playoff series, especially when you consider the relative strengths and weaknesses of the current Celtics squad. In short, he has no place here.

There will be moves forthcoming, of that I have no doubt. But I sincerely doubt it's going to be for an older player or an upcoming UFA (unless the trade only involves David Lee and a 2nd rounder) because those assets have little to no value for this team.

Noah can't be traded in aggregate trades after he's received. Take this to mean that if we go after an expensive player, and Noah's contract is not enough, we can't use another player to make up the difference.

So on that regard, the Lee contract is better (also because it's more expensive).

I don't care much for Doug McDermott, a future first might be a bit intriguing. But Chicago seems posed to keep competing, so not sure how valuable that will end up being.
