No, I do not want Jeff Green back in Boston.  I don't see how he helps this team.  Crowder is better and we don't have room or a good enough rim protector to play Green at PF.

Memphis would probably pass anyway, although I do think they would love to trade him ASAP.  Apparently he his teammates are not impressed.

We knew that Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger was mad at Jeff Green during Memphis' loss to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. We know that because Green didn't play in the 2nd half. Actions speak loudly, after all.

Apparently Joerger wasn't the only one. Shocking, I know. Check the transcription from Ron Tillery on the Griz Podcast:

Jeff hasn't gotten it done, and he's shooting very poorly over the last six games. His attitude hasn't been the best. He's not playing very well defensively.

And I know of a guy who matters in that locker room that wanted to wring his neck last night.

...I was told, point blank, by a guy in that locker room who matters that Jeff doesn't care.

Not surprising at all and pretty much confirms what we all suspected of him during his time in Boston. He doesn't care about basketball, otherwise he would have actually improved his game or actually tried to be consistent.

I hated Jeff Green as our go to scorer on our team, but i'm all for bringing him back to back up Crowder.

If Smart is going to run the second team offense then replacing Evan Turner with a better 3 point shooter like Green isn't the worst idea.

That being said I hope we can bring in a better player using the David Lee contract and a pick. If nothing else arises I would deal Lee for Green
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

The two worst players for the Celtics in the past decade were Jeff Green and Sheed. They actively made the entire team worse. But at least Sheed turned it on in the playoffs

I would take Jeff green back especially for lee.  Jeff knows the Celtics and we know who he is and what he will give us.  He's be a great sf option and maybe he'll actually wake up this time around.  But I wouldn't play him a ton.

Pretty interesting idea.

I would like to do it because I believe he likes Boston and his length/athleticism allow him to at times matchup with Lebron and George
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Rsy_bfaZ_I

Plus I like him. One of my friends had a similar heart condition to Green and Jeff heard about it and went well out of his way to meet the kid and give him a signed Jersey and talk to him. He continued to talk to him for a while after meeting him too. So I like Jeff. And lastly that skillset is so tantalizing. He's 6'9", long, athletic as anyone outside Lebron James and has in the past shoown the ability to shoot pretty well from deep.

Unfortunately Im not sure you can trust him not to ruin your locker room with his i dont care attitude.

Apparently Green is on the trading block and in the last year of his contract. If we're unable to trade Lee's contract in a bigger trade, would you do an expiring for an expiring swap with Jeff Green? It makes some sense for both sides. Lee would be a tough vet to back up Randolph, and they have a very similar game. Green would be the backup to Crowder, which you can surely do worse for a backup swing man. Green would also make us much more versatile in the small-ball department. The only issue is we'd have to get creative with the trade, because a straight up swap doesn't work in the trade machine.

Would you do it?

I'd be interested in the trade and got a little interested.  We're looking for also a scorer and we could get one in the deal as well.  We clear room down low by shipping 3 bigs for 1 big and Green.  I don't know what Memphis is doing if they're buying or selling.  But I'd be interested in a trade like this.

Memphis Trade
Randolph
Green

Celtics Trade
Lee
Zeller
Jerebko
1 or 2 of our multiple 2nd round picks

Memphis gets rid of Jeff Green and Randolph who's aging and taking up cap room.  They get 3 expiring contracts plus say 2 2nd round picks.  Lee could play next to Gasol, Zeller is a great back up center for them, Jerebko is a 3/4 that can stretch the floor for them some more.

Celtics get Green to backup Crowder and Turner can back up Bradley at this point.  Randolph becomes our starting power forward and creates space in the bigs.  Johnson, Sully Olynyk and Randolph become our bigs and also gives the chance to bring up Mickey if we want to.

Like I said not sure if Memphis is willing to give up Randolph to get a deal done but it'd be worth it.  It could take a 1st round instead of a couple 2nd rounders and then I'm not sure.

I guess in the end the real question is who do you rather have on the court, Jeff Green or Jonas Jerebko.

You can expand that question to inckude Turner.

Great point.    I'd rather Jonas all day.   Jeff isn't committed enough.

He didn't drag the team down and wasn't making much. And I think he mercifully got hurt and disappeared
