It happened.  Go ahead and dance.

I'm happy for Rondo that he's in a good situation.  As a Celtics fan, not so much.
But i mean... based on all those many public comments, he clearly wants to be a Celtic, mmiright?  Let's take them at face value and pretend they weren't PR.   Seems to me as long as boston gets a couple running-mates either via trade, draft or free agency,  Rondo would strongly consider returning to Boston.   I know he's dating the Mavs right now, but I don't see no extension on that finger.  We got 9 years of history, baby.  Come back to Aingie.

I say, go for it. Let's sign a couple of stars this summer and have enough cap space left to sign Rondo for close to the money that other teams offer him, even if it's a little less. I wouldn't be surprised if he came back under those circumstances. You should be able to come up with some realistic scenarios where Danny could do that based on the multitude of trade threads you've started over the years.

You saying, "go for it, bring Rondo back", what a shock!

Following conversations has never been your strong suit.

Following Rondo wherever he goes has always been yours. Be honest, you got a little choked up yesterday, didn't you?

I know you weren't talking to me, but I got a little choked up yesterday.  As I imagine did many other Celtics fans who have been following this team over the course of the last seven years.

I got choked up when Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett returned wearing another team's uniform, as well.  I also got choked up when Perk returned.

Is that bad?

Not sure any man should be choked up over any of it. The last time I was choked up over a player on the C's was when Bird retired, but I was a kid then. Perhaps you're really young, overly sensitive, or have too much invested into certain players.

Eddie, did you just accuse someone of being overly-invested into a sports player when you have 3000+ posts on a blog about a sports team? We're all over-obsessed, and that's the beauty of Celticsblog. Let's not sacrifice the innocence of this place. :)

What is this, 1960? Do you REALLY believe what you're saying?

I don't wish death on anyone but I am glad that ideas like these along with the people who still hold them, are "moving on" so that the world becomes a better place for all!

I absolutely do. Real life experience provides perspective. When you've had people take their last breaths in front of you, not referring to hospice patients either, it gives you a different outlook on life. On what's really important.

I have seen many friends die but that isn't what we are talking about. Men shouldn't cry is what everyone is objecting. I don't care why someone is crying, it doesn't make them less of a man. Crying every now and then is good for you, maybe you should do it more.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Let's not make this about what we have and haven't experienced in real life.  Nobody is confusing our support of the Boston Celtics with real life issues.   The fact that you root passionately for the Boston Celtics but manage to stay emotionally detached at the same time is great for you.

For me the emotional attachment enriches the experience of rooting for me.  That doesn't mean that I confuse my fandom for stuff that matters in the real world.

Not sure if I am disagreeing or agreeing but Ainge tried to get at least one star (Love) and probably some others but was not able to.  The clock was running out on that plan so he decided to cut his losses and trade Rondo.  I think Ainge clearly wanted to get the roster stocked along with Rondo and hoped that would be enough for them to get Rondo to resign.

So for the people that want to fire Ainge, is that because he failed to get Love or because he traded Rondo.  For me, if he didn't trade Rondo and then he walked for nothing, that would be worse than either of the other two.

I honestly can't recall being in any Rondo threads over the last few months (at least) that you didn't have multiple posts in before I got there. I'd also say it's likely you've started at least 10 times as many Rondo threads as I have.I don't think anyone would objectively say you've been any less obsessed with Rondo than I am.In fact you seem to be so excited about these Rondo discussions that you frequently call me out by name when you're in a Rondo thread and I haven't seen it yet.

in retrospect I think ainge would admit he probably should have traded Rondo when pierce & KG got traded. it just delayed the inevitable process that we are in now.

I do believe he had every intention of trying to do a quick rebuild around Rondo. and that had Cleveland not emerged as a candidate for Love, things might be different right now. but as soon as Love going to cleveland was announced danny should have been shopping Rondo bass & green. it was only going to go south after that.
