I should also point out that even though the title of this thread was taken from the corresponding articles which describe this as people 'breaking in' to Ray's house, how much of it is really breaking in when they went in through the unlocked back doe? ;D  I just think it's just taking away from the skill of the true professionals (sarcasm) ::)

But....But... Professional athletes are infallible, right?

Of course ::) but I was talking about professional burglars lol.

It sounds like some harmless kids up to mischief.  No big deal.  One of their parents turned them in to the police and they got a good scare.  No big deal.

I assume you don't have a spouse and children?

If people enter your home at night and invade your security, it's a big deal.

It's a big deal mistake. Unfortunately its one I might have made myself at 18 -- depending on the circumstances.  Therefore, I probably would go easy on the judicial side of things, especially if this is a first brush with the law.

If it were a group of black teens, I am certain that the public in general would have a hard time believing they weren't up to no good.  A group of 20 yo whites and there tend to be different assumptions. "Stupid mistake" vs. "Criminal act".  A good example of the manifestation of stereotyping.

How can anyone say this isn't a big deal? It's a huge deal to have your privacy invaded like that.

I can see what you're saying here. That said I still wish they had had their heads blown off. I have zero tolerance for people that make the "stupid mistake" of going into someone's house like this.  Zero.

And if I was 18 I definitely would not have snuck into someone's house. Not even an NBA player. Now if hot chicks were involved. Well. That might be different.

"Bling Ring" isn't a great movie, but it's pretty interesting that actually happened... Teens in LA broke into celebrity houses while they were out of town... Stole crap and had parties.  They broke into Paris Hilton's house like 5 times. Almost no security... They just walked in and hung out.

I imagine these kids had that in mind when they went to ray's house.

Was that the movie with Emma Watson?  And if they were stealing from Paris Hilton, were they really stealing? ;D  That would be just like stealing from the Kardashians - who cares?  Grab your torch and pitchforks! ;)  I read somewhere the other day that Kim made ****ing $28 million last year. :o  FOR WHAT!?!?  FOR WHAT!?!?
Exploiting dumb people.  How much money was spent on scratch tickets last year?  For what?  Because some people failed math?

State-controlled media and the normal race-baiters sure have....By design...Helped with that stereotype this week.

It's pretty clear that people aren't raised with the same values...And clearly some kids aren't raised at all.  But it's hard to fathom anybody going through their 16-20 years of existence and not knowing that this is a criminal act.  If they don't...They need to be locked up for awhile to learn.  This is not OK.  There should be no assumptions based on anything.  This is just plain criminal.

Well, if it was Tony Allen's house instead of Ray Allen's for example, they probably would have had their heads blown off, and would have been well within the law for the homeowner/occupant to do so.

The local story says the door had a faulty lock.  Yahoo says it was unlocked.

But here is the thing, if you thought Ray Allen moved and the house was empty, why would you go in if the door was unlocked.  No one moves out of a house and leaves the door unlocked.

They sound like misguided kids, we all have done stupid stuff.   Lucky, nothing more serious happened to them and kudos to parent who made them turn their selves in.

Bad judgement is something a lot of people have and teens have tons of, folks.

Tony Allen has guns?  I thought, knowing him, Tony would just break their eye-sockets and have someone from his posse do the shooting.

First mistake would be believing Yahoo "news".
