The Magic like Smart so.....Exum might fall to us.....but Vohleh is gonna be a beast....those wanting
Gordon will be crying in their soup we didn't get Noah........

The Magic like Smart, yes.  But there are also some who believe they would take Exum #1 overall.  The world in which they take Smart #4 is probably a world in which Exum goes #1-3.  In this world, it's also possible that either the Celtics or Jazz are able to trade to #4 so the Magic take Smart at 5 or 6.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Depending on who Orlando and Utah decide to take, we'll get one of

Smart (most lilkely)
Vonleh (If Utah takes Smart and keeps their current bigs)
Exum(if somehow he falls to us)

My pick would be Vonleh, with Smart closely behind. That length, size and footwork are incredible for an 18 year old. I mean he's almost 4 years younger than Jarred Sullinger.
Check him out at pre draft the other day:
http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Noah-Vonleh-2014-NBA-Pre-Draft-Workout-and-Interview-Video-4582/
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

So I noticed Mannix did a mock a couple days ago, an interesting take that should have us prepped to swap with Utah should it happen

4. Orlando Magic -- Marcus Smart, G, Oklahoma State sophomore, 6-3, 227
Smart will have a second workout with the Magic this week, a strong signal of Orlando's interest. The Magic coveted him last year before he decided to return to school, and there is a growing belief among league executives that Smart is the best point guard prospect in the draft. Scouts don't love his shooting form, but his size and aggressive style make him an appealing prospect.

5. Utah Jazz -- Dante Exum, G, Australia (18 years old), 6-6, 196
This is a tough spot for Utah. Parker would be a natural fit here, but it's highly unlikely he slips this far. Exum is a great consolation prize, though. Several scouts say Exum's upside is as big as Embiid's or Wiggins'. Exum thinks he's a point guard, but two executives who have seen him play believe his future is at the two. An Exum-Trey Burke backcourt could become a dynamic duo.

6. Boston Celtics -- Aaron Gordon, F, Arizona freshman, 6-9, 220
Several league sources believe that Celtics GM Danny Ainge is locked in on Gordon. While Gordon's shooting is a concern, he is a strong rebounder and shot blocker who can defend either forward spot and has been compared to Shawn Marion. A trade is possible here, too. Ainge is always on the lookout for a make a blockbuster deal, and with Boston's assets he is more than equipped to do so.

As you should.  Either:
A) Kanter is very good, but about to become very expensive
B) Kanter will be cheap, but is not very good
C) Kanter is not very good and will still be paid a lot.

A) might be worth #6, depending upon how good is very good.  B and C are not.  My guy says that he's not good enough, given the Jazz's supposed willingness to trade him despite positional scarcity.

Interesting. It seems like Smart will not be an option for us at 6. Even if the Magic pass on him for Exum, I don't see the Jazz passing on him as well considering they have Kanter and Favors already and could use a player at Smart's position. Not too long ago, people on here were down on us picking Smart at 6, now we likely won't even have a shot at him.

I would seriously consider then trading with the Jazz to grab Exum. Losing that coin flip could really turn out to haunt us.

DraftExpress has Smart at 4, Vonleh at 5, Exum at 6 to us.

That's great in my view. I think Exum on the board at 6 gives us better options than we'd anticipated. I think we could get better value in a trade and if the offers are sweet for Rondo, I wouldn't even mind drafting him outright and going full rebuild.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

I bet jazz trade 5th and 35th for parker. Bucks get exum or smart

Magic like smart. He has been brought in twice now for workouts

No.

It costs you way more than a second-round pick to move from #5 to #2.  The Jazz also have #22 from the Warriors but I don't think that'd get it done either.

I disagree.  35th is as good as a late 1st but without guaranteed money to be given out

If not the 5th and 23rd will def get it done.

Bucks have giannis already as the teams sf and really need a pg . Rumor is that they like both exum and smart also.  Weird scenerio would be if bucks take parker to trade to jazz but 76ers take exum and magic take smart. Then your trading parker for wiggins plus another pick. Pretty good deal for the bucks in this situation

Last year the Jazz gave up #14 and #21 to move up 5 spots to #9.  The Celtics gave up 2 2nd-rounders to move from #16 to #13.  The Cavs gave up #24, #33, and #34 to move up seven spots to #17 in 2012.  All of those are smaller jumps, value-wise, than #5 to #2 in this draft.  Not going to happen.
