I'm kinda sick of hearing those 3 names...Love, Asik, Melo.

Seems like these are the ONLY 3 players in the league.

Agreed.

well they're the 3 most "possibly available" realistic options out there.

And all three of them are improvements - in many cases significantly - over what we'd get if Ainge gives in to the draft-obsessed and picks twice in the first round.

I'll take a proven NBA player ANY day over the 2014 version of Yi, Saric, or a guy racking up trouble in Stillwater like Marcus Smart.

Randle would not be a disaster at 6; beyond that, using the pick means we're OK with being bombed back to Pitinostan.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
If we are trading the #6, then I want Cousins or Drummond in return. The TPE for Asik seems reasonable, as it frees up cap space and gives them the option to bring in a quality player at a fairly hefty contract. I guess a decent 2nd round pick could also be included (what we received from Philly in the Crawford/Brooks deal - they aren't making the playoffs next year).

As for Melo, I would be all for it, but I think it would have to be Green, not Wallace.

Tthat's laughable beausee neither player is going to be traded.  Drummond is THE player the Pistons are building around and so is Cousins for the Kings.  The #6 pick has value but not nearly that much

I agree that neither player is likely to be traded, but Anthony Davis would be laughable - these guys are just not plausible. Asik for the #6 was so far off - I was just trying to make a point that we should aim higher if we are going to trade such a great asset.

Would love to get Melo.

I just think it be exciting to have a superstar on the Celtics for once.

Only those three?  Are there no other realistic options out there?  (Asking, not knocking...I don't really keep up with which players are in contract years/disgruntled/etc).

I think the #17 and the tpe might be an overpay for Asik.
I think they asked for 2 first rounders for him previously, but I agree they probably would have taken a single pick in the 20-30 range.  We apparently almost got away with giving them bass for asik.

I do wonder if other teams will show interest in Asik now, though.  I don't think it's simply Boston's choice to trade for him or not... I imagine some other teams will make bids if Asik is as grand as everyone thinks

I'm fine with it because Love and Asik are players I have coveted for years.  (Not Melo, though.)
