Aldridge is a much better piece than Josh Smith in my opinion.  He is so solid.

Josh Smith (PF) would be excellent alongside Aldridge (C).

Wouldn't work, because Aldridge refuses to be a Center, hence why Hickson was a Center.

Hickson wasn't a center because Aldridge refuses to be center.  Hickson was center because Hickson is a center.

Aldridge played 8% of all Portland's minutes at center last season, because they had very few rotational-worthy players on their team and 2 of them (Hickson, Leonard) were centers.  The prior season, he played 25% of their minutes at center and the season before that, he played 40% of all their minutes at center (half of his playing time).

I mentioned going after Aldridge a while back. Maybe offer Green, Bradley and Sullinger plus picks?

Would love to have him.

Also, some need to get past this "rebuilding" stuff.

We've yet to see anything suggesting we are rebuilding, other than Doc going to the Clippers, and even that's not saying anything.

Doc says he never wanted to leave Boston.

LMA is good, but giving up Bradley AND Green AND Sullinger AND picks to get him? That's too much going out to make Aldridge coming in a net improvement to the Cs title hopes, and Portland can't tank properly with the likes of Green random dropping 40 points every 10th game or so, or Bradley becoming the bane of Western Conference point guards.

I reckon Sully plus Lee plus all the nonguaranteeds plus our pick from this year and the Clippers 1st  rounder from the Doc deal ought to help Portland shift into rebuilding and  help the Cs reload.

First of all, I cannot believe some people here are actually debating Josh Smith and Lamarcus Aldridge. It is not even close. I will take Aldridge every single day of the week without even thinking about it.

Aside from that, I'm not putting too much consideration into these rumors. Portland isn't stupid. They have one of the youngest and most talented foundations of any team in the league in Lillard/Matthews/Batum/LMA. All of them are still locked in for at least 2 years on reasonable contracts, with Batum locked in for 3. Those 4 are only going to keep on growing, and the Blazers really only need a solid center and some depth. With all their cap space available, it really shouldn't be that hard to do. Above all else, there's absolutely no way Portland lets go of a star who actually prefers the quiet of a small market.

hopefully hes cool with us rebuilding too

If we had Rondo, Green and Aldridge we'd be done with our rebuild.

And what are we trading Portland in your mind here? a pu-pu platter of picks and role guys? good luck with that.

The only way the Cs could land Aldridge would be in a 3-team deal where Rondo and some additional assets go out. good luck with that too, Danny... I'd certainly be in favor.

Couldn't we combine rumors....Wouldn't Aldridge for Howard make sense?   If Howard would agree.  The Lakers would make out very well and Howard can go up to Portland and get out of the spot light.

Hmmm....I think a Portland team of Lillard, Bradley, Batum, Green/Sully and insert center (Hickson, Jeffries) ends up being pretty bad.

Maybe not dead last. But possible to be one of the worse 5-7 teams in the league? I think so. Don't forget, there's some decent individual talent there, but as a team, I don't think they get very far.

Fortunately for us, I think Green, Bradley and Sully could amount to decent trade value. Nothing that will get us a max player or anything, but someone like LMA, maybe.

When I read the original article, why would deng for LA not work? They have th same salary. Home run for CHI if they could flip boozer for a real SG then land robinson for #20.

But forget Chicago, how do we get LA? Can he re-negotiate his conract for a S+T? Idk how that works. But Danny should see this and be beating down the door in Portland.

If we are able to net someone like LA I'd be willing to part with Sully and AB. I don't like any trades involving Rondo or Green (especiall both of them).

Maybe Bass, Sully, AB, Terry/Lee #16

for

LA, Maynor/Sasha #39, #40 ?
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Aldridge pretty much give you everything you want from a PF. Better Chris Bosh imo

Aldridge is excellent, but when Bosh was asked to carry the load he was far more impressive than Aldridge. Aldridge is a career 18/7 guy which is what Bosh puts up as a 3rd option for the Heat. When Bosh was the man in Toronto he was a 24/11 guy. It's funny you would mention Bosh because I think this would be a decent trade for both teams. Bosh could put up elite numbers in Portland and Miami would get a big not afraid to bang with Chicago and Indiana.
