I hope that at the end of this era, wyc decides to go in a different direction.
Mchale coach.
Bird GM.
With a new big three.
That will be a logical path and a way to give new hope to the fans.

Short answer... No!

Longer answer, Larry and Danny are like oil and water, they don't mix... it might be more like gasoline and fire if you tried to put those two together! I can't see Larry working for Danny, nor Kevin for that matter. Nor can I see Kevin and Larry ever being together again either. Finally, getting Bird out of Indy is going to be next to impossible.

If Legend isn't available, what about Birdman? Player/coach?

Bird would have to be nuts to leave a growing Team Indy to Coach minor league ball. The Double D's, Danny and Doc have left the Celts in ruins. In LA they'd be towel and ball boys.

He already left indy.

My understanding is that he has an open invitation back and is considering returning there.

Maybe I am crazy but I would rather the Celtics keep the GM that built a title winner vs. the guy that built the team that almost beat the heat in the East finals.

Bird is not going to coach anymore.

For the ownership

1. fire DA. 2.Hire Larry Bird as GM. 3 ask Doc if he likes to come back. 4 If Doc denies, sing Jerry Sloan or Van Gundy

Ugh.  I hadn't even contemplated that Doc's act might be an attempt to get Danny fired.  Not only is that too ugly to consider, but it is also much more likely that Doc's simply trying to protect his won/loss record by getting the C's to let him go coach a better team.

I am sure, if the ownership will continue with DA, after 1-2 season without KG+PP Cs will finish like Detroit Pistons. Firing DA is now imperative step, and if the ownership get larry Bird, this team might have e great future.

I admit, I'd rather have Bird as team president and GM and Danny probably can't be there for that.

But I credit Danny with the one Celtics championship in the last 25+ years far more than Doc.  Danny gave Doc world-class ingredients and Doc simply didn't ruin them in the kitchen.

Danny's contribution was necessary, Doc's merely sufficient.
