Trade Idea -- Jason Terry for Michael Beasley

... if the Suns desperately want to move Beasley, they may consider taking Terry's almost as bad contract off Boston's hands in order to get of Beasley. Not sure that is the case. But maybe.

Interesting reclamation project. Talented undersized scoring PF.

Beasley has been a net negative for every team he's been on.  Maybe a year or two ago he would have been worth reclaiming.  I certainly think the Wolves made a good move acquiring him for basically a second round pick.  But at this point he's got the bad habits and I wouldn't waste time or resources trying to change him.

I don't disagree: it seems to me that Beasley just doesn't have it between the ears or between the ribs to be a dependable NBA player of any impact.

But, the final year of his contract in 2014-15 is less than 50% partially guaranteed (for $3 million). So, purely in financial terms, he could be a decent trade chip to flip.

I think I'd do it.

In that sense, yes, saving the money by trading Bass or Terry for him wouldn't be the worst thing.

Still, heading into a rebuild, players like Michael Beasley are exactly the sort of players we ought to avoid at all costs.

What do they do?

1.) Draft big. Whitey (a must), Adams, Olynyk, Dieng doesnt matter who, we need to draft big.

2.) (Pains me to say this but) Paul should come off the bench and start Green.

2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

Why are you even a Celtics fan if you want to get rid of every celtic player out there?

There's nothing particularly un-Celtic fan like about his ideas, at least not if you are prescribing to the notion that you root for the laundry, not the players (It's the name in the front, not the back, that matters). Which I think is safe to say is the approach for most of the people around here.

this=all kinds of win

I think the "root for the laundry not the players" thing is a great phrase except I think "laundry" is not quite the right word to use.

I'm a fan of the Celtics as an organization -- I'm a fan of the city they represent, I'm a fan of their history, I'm a fan of all that they've been and all I hope they will be.

I want to see the team succeed.  I prioritize wins over individual players.

My ideal scenario
- Trade Jeff Green, Bradley, Sullinger and first round pick for Cousins and Salmons. Cousins and Rondo will be a great tandem for a long time.

While Cousins is on my list of players to go after, if we have to give up our three rising players I don't like it.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Step one...tell the players whoever gets the most rebs per 48 minutes starts and plays at least 32 minutes a night

Step two...watch KG pout on the bench behind Sully

Step three...ask if he'd be interested in being traded to Clippers

Our old guys have to be made into backups the way Reggie Miller was. Everyone has to deal with this.

I root for laundry.  Frankly, I like Boston but don't necessarily feel the need to say "we (the city) are the greatest" (notwithstanding my pride in how Boston citizens responded to the recent tragedy).  You could waltz out my 5 most despised NBA players of all-time and if they were in Celtic Green, I'd root like heck for them.  Even Kobe.

We are going to suck for some years if we start seriously rebuilding (KG retiring, PP traded), so I hope we at least build a team with the emphasis on (high octane) offense. I had enough of stagnant, turnover prone offense. I could live with a negative record, if the team plays entertaining basket in the mean time. But I think Doc isn't the coach for doing so.

My offseason:
1) KG calls it a career (he suffers right now)
2) Try to sign/trade a legitimate lowpost scoring threat
3) draft BPA
4) don't rush Rondo
5) explore trades for Lee/Bass/Bradley
6) try to dump Terry

Yeah I don't disagree with you.  I guess I just think the phrase "root for the laundry" makes it sound like a negative thing.

I'm just trying to make the point that for me I admire the accomplishments of NBA franchises more than individual players . . . I'd much rather see a league dominated by well managed teams than individual stars calling all the shots.  That's why I admire the Spurs so much.

I'll always love the Celtics, though, even when I hate them, too.

Yeah, just pick any gm out there, odds are people here haven't been judging them mainly on their late draft picks and would assume their 12th-15th men *must* be better than ours, even if they couldn't name those players.
