doesn't really make sense to trade for Rivers and keep both Rondo and Bradley, does it?

Rondo: pass-first PG
Bradley: defensive specialist
Rivers: shoot-first scoring combo

Looks like highly complementary platoon to me.
So we're assuming either bradley or Rivers will be a bench player.   Again... doesn't make a lot of sense to trade for Rivers and keep Bradley.  If we're going to trade up, I want a starter.  But then again... I see Bradley as a role-playing bench player long-term anyways... so you're prob right.

I would be OK with drafting Rivers if he fell for some reason.

I am not OK with trading both picks (and more) to move up to get him.

no, it doesnt. to take it a step further, i dont think it makes sense to draft rivers and have rondo too. they are similar players. rondo is move developed, which is expected with his NBA experience. but I feel that rivers has a huge upside. his ability to score and drive (and finish, unlike RR) would give the celtics much more space to run an offense.
I dont think that Bradley and rivers would hinder too much with each others game. but i also dont consider either of them NBA point guards, not yet at least. Rivers can absolutely be a Deron Williams type player (rondo who??) where bradley is a role/6th man..but a potentially good one for the unique skills+athleticism he brings.

Agree with this. I don't see why Ainge wouldn't be willing to deal Bradley for Rivers with the picks if they're really that interested.

This has disaster for some reason written everywhere  :-\

It isn't a disaster, it is an ESPN/NBA publicity stunt designed to get people to tune in tonight.
Celtics fan for life.

Austin Rivers will be a big ass bust.  I would much rather have Royce White and Fab Melo.

There is a greater chance of Fab Melo being a bust than Rivers.

Sources say Boston would be willing to part with both their Nos. 21 and 22 picks, but it's believed that teams in the top 10 want more than that. And the Celtics, sources say, are struggling to offer more because they refuse to include promising guard Avery Bradley in draft-night trade talks and lack other assets to sweeten the pot.

Looks like Danny doesn't plan on trading Bradley on draft night. Just take Royce White! he has top ten talent too and is a better play maker and rebounder than Rivers
Denver will steal him

trade up to dallas at 17. They need young cheap players to fill their roster so they can amnesty Haywood and trade Odom.

You can't honestly think White is worth both our picks in this draft.

talent drops off quick after 20 so yes I do. The kid is a beast with a PG handle and vision and averaged 9 rebounds a game. He's going to be at least a 15/8/4 (Josh Smith type #'s) guy in the NBA IMO

The talent doesn't just drop off a cliff after pick number 20. This draft is considered deep for a reason. Also, until today he was projected at 21, at the highest on most mocks, right after the talent drop off you speak of. So White going ahead of us in theory pushes a top 20 talent down. The way I see it White isn't worth two players slotted to go in the same range. It makes no sense giving up pick 21 and 22 for a guy expected to go at 20.

We have all this currency, PLEASE don't use it all on an under-sized SG.

It doesn't make sense to me.  If Danny and Doc are dying for a scoring combo guard who can create off the dribble but isn't a great perimeter shooter, then take the French kid at 21 or 22.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

The Celtics' dilemma is whether they can muster the trade assets needed to acquire a pick high enough in the lottery to get in Rivers' range. The Celtics haven't totally given up on moving up in the draft, however. Sources say they are trying to package Nos. 21 and 22 to move into the mid-first round instead. ESPN.com

Talent drops off atdifferent spots in every draft. Look at the players projected to go from 12-20, some of them will go in the mid-20s, some of them will probably last into the second round.
