I would hate to see it happen. I think Paul is done after next season anyway. As in retire mode, Keep him let him retire a Celtics with no other teams on his resume.

Sacramento won't trade Tyreke for Pierce.

Pierce is too old and their team is too far from winning. Plus, Pierce is very unlikely to report to Sacramento (since it's such a bad team).
Kings have a Lot of talent tho thomas runnin point, Marcus Thorton, Demarcus Cousins nd Jason Thompson is a nice young nucleus they can be on da come up

Cousins and Tyreke are the only high level talents on that roster. The rest are low level talents with limited upside.

Thomas, Thornton and Thompson are all bench players.
Marcus Thorton a 20 point scorer who put up 36 against us dis year is a bench player? lol wasnt u da same one who said he a marginal talent  da same day he fried us?
Probably, been saying it for three years.

Seen nothing to change my mind since then.
nah i disagree lol dude can score easily in a variety of ways I would love to have him on our bench if dats ya opinion

Yeah, I like his scoring too. Good scorer.

I dislike his lack of defense, so-so rebounding, lack of ball-handling and passing ability.

Marcus Thornton is the type of player that can add a good deal to his team with his scoring ability but takes just as much off the table with his negatives elsewhere. That is the reason he found minutes hard to come by in New Orleans and why Sacramento hasn't seen a big improvement since bringing a 18-20ppg threat on board.

Very similar type of player to a Nick Young. They could be a starter in the right situation but on most teams they'd be a bench player. Despite being capable and prolific scorers, they'll never be star talent due to their limitations outside of scoring.

----------------------------------------------------

That is what I am trying to say -- you don't trade away a talent as good as Tyreke Evans for a soon to be 35 year old Paul Pierce because you have a player like Nick Young, or CJ Watson (Isiah Thomas) or a [blanking on a comparison] (Jason Thompson). Doubly so when your team is so far away from winning as the Sacramento Kings are.

----------------------------------------------------

Jason Thompson is the one I like the most. He could be a solid rotation worthy big man if he learned how to play some defense (very weak defender despite good size and athleticism) and continues to improve that jumper a wee bit more (almost serviceable). I am concerned by his minimal development over the last four years though.

Isiah Thomas, I believe is too limited by his size as a defender/rebounder and also as a playmaker to be a quality starter and is best served as a change of pace PG off the bench. I think he can be an above average backup PG.

Marcus Thornton = Nick Young = scoring orientated role player with limited non-scoring contributions. Generally a backup quality player, could be a starter in the right situation (right situation = strong defensive team in desperate need of added scoring option = in other words, they need his strengths badly enough to live with his weaknesses and have the capacity to do so with a strong team defense elsewhere).

---------------------------------------

Anyway, I don't know if you agree with that or not ... but I thought I'd explain my reasons why I am not particularly high on Marcus Thornton.

If KG does retire and Rudy Gay would truly welcome a trade then I wonder if Memphis would Gay and Mayo (S+T) for Pierce and Ray (S+T) plus a pick.

Pierce and ray along with Gasol, Randolph, and Conley is a nice five that can compete in the west. Add in Tony Allen to spell both Ray and Paul and bring in defense and they have some nice pieces. They would need some more guys, but it's a team that can contend with OKC.

If Pierce and Ray got to stay together and contend for a title they might do it. Especially if they know Kg is retiring and Boston won't be able to contend anymore.

I would rather do the deal without OJ Mayo.

I'd absolutely do this and I'd throw in one of our draft picks as well.  I truly think thats a core that could bring Josh Smith here the following offseason and a core 1-4 of:

Rondo
Bradley
Gay
Smith

with Mayo and maybe Jeff Green off the bench is an extremely young, talented lineup that could contend for several years and would be dominant defensively.  Draft a C every year in the draft, use the MLE on a C every year, and hope that brings about a good defensive C somewhere.

I personally thought about Pierce + Bass for J Smith and Williams (who we could eventually amnesty or something...) If we are to go that rebuilding route...
ATL does it to get rid of Marvin's contract and would welcome great starting PF with reliable Jumper and an All Star Scorer to play next to Joe Johnson!

The Celtics couldn't amnesty Williams.

A deal so lopsided in the Celtics' favor that if Paul Pierce was asked about rumors of the trade, he would say that Danny Ainge would be an idiot to pass that up.

Well, the 2nd post in here is pretty much /thread
