Question for the OP: Hypothetically, if this were the NBA finals and not the ECF, would you still be rooting for the Celts?

The reason that I ask this question is because I for one would root for the Lakers in a hypothetical Conference Final against the CHeat, especially if two formidable teams like the Spurs and Thunder were waiting for the Lakers.

However,as much as it would be distasteful to me, I would root for the cHeat to beat the Lakers in an NBA Finals series.

No one on this board wants the Lakers to catch the Celtics in numbers of championships, especially since (as was alluded to by a previous poster) some of your championships are from a totally different fanbase and, for all intents and purposes, different franchises. All those franchises (Minneapolis/LA) share is a name.

Too bad you folks will be disappointed when the Heat sweeps Celtics.
perfect example of how trolls disappear when their teams can't back up their mouths.

with competent, unbiased officiating, C's should be up at least 3-1 in this series if not a sweep  (game 1 was so crappily officiated in the first half, C's couldn't get anything going.  should have been up close to double digits by halftime).

This Laker fan isn't too bad of a guy. He's broken the stereotype in my book  ;D.

I understand where he's coming from and I probably would rather see the Lakers win than the heat. We can always pull ahead in the banner count dept, but we could never take away a heat championship.

I hate LA, but like the OP, I have some respect for them.
There is nothing I like about the heat.

Now where is the shower, I feel dirty.....
Back to wanting Joe fired.

As much as I dislike your organization, I must give you guys credit for making the ECF. Well done.

The main reason I made an account, was to wish you guys the best against Miami (I can't believe I'm actually rooting for you guys). While I dislike the Celtics with a passion, I surely do respect your entire team and organization. I feel your organization represents basketball to its purest form. You guys do it right; old school, grit, and real team ball.

I think it will be a tough series, but I have no doubt you guys can advance if KG continues to play the way he has been. Rondo has really matured in my eyes and is really a leader now. Everytime I think of PP, I think about the wheelchair incident...nevertheless, he is a baller and will always be a scoring threat. Ray reminds me a lot of a Reggie Miller, not only because of the downtown threat, but the way he comes off screens to get himself open. Then again, you guys all know this already.

Bottom line is, I hope you guys demolish Miami, but I'll settle for you guys winning in 7! Good luck the rest of the way.

If Lakers and Heat were in the Finals and i would watch(which i wouldn't), i probably would root for the Lakers but only because that pro-Heat refereeing which makes me puke some times. We should have been up 3-1 by now, however, I will also settle in beating Miami in game 5 or 7 so we can show those Miami fans what championship teams actually look like

There is a reason why that original chant is Beat LA, not Beat the Heat.
There is a reason why 33 championships have been won by two franchises in the history.
Lakers-Celtics is history. And they are eternal rivals.
Heat? They were nothing. And you know what? Nobody will expect them to bounce back when their current core dissolves. They will return to being nothing.
I'd still root for LA. Not because I'm a fan of any of their players. But that organization has a tradition. If a team other than the Celtics is going to win, I'd rather see a champion with history, instead of the media's cry babies.
