Great News!

While I was hoping for the acquisition of someone to perhaps shore us up, I'm holding out hope that perhaps JO can return here shortly.

But KG? Ray Ray? Paul? Rondo?

Let's Go!

That opportunity is SO SMALL to go far this year, but there is still a shot, nonetheless.

Rather go down swinging with THIS group than trading one of them for pieces.

I'm guessing that Ray and Paul will have some big games here on out, especially Ray.

No more rumors to deal with.

The Celtics had serious trade talks on Paul Pierce and Ray Allen with several teams, but no deal came together, league sources tell Y!

Made the biggest GM mistake ever: overvalued own players.

Actually, Danny Ainge just AVOIDED the biggest GM mistake ever: eating up cap space for mediocre role players just for the sake of making a move.

But I'm not sure why JO, Wilcox, and/or Dooling didn't get moved with a future 2nd or something.

What could that have possibly gotten us?

I guess  just look at the club at their last stand and wish that ownership would have ante'd up a 2nd rounder or a few and some cash to get rid of JO, Wilcox, and the useless Dooling and bring in at least role players good enough to give those proud old legs a fighting chance.

That's all.

and who are those role players that were available that you are talking about?

I'm starting to accept that Ainge would have gladly taken a draft pick for Ray Allen or Paul Pierce... he just didn't want to lock us into long-term salary.  He offered Pierce to everyone with expiring contracts.  He listened to tons of offers for Ray Allen.  He had a "for sale" sign on Rondo all season.

Turns out, our players don't have any trade value.  Welcome to hell.  Prep yourself for a long... long... rebuild.

Not exactly. It means the cost of acquiring those assets is high. In the case of Ray and KG they amount to a few month rental....My money on both is that if they play next year it's with Boston, and only Boston. In the case of Pearce...there are only a few teams that are close enough to being winners that have the assets to make the deal. Chicago for example...they probably could have done it if they wanted and come out ahead.
Nope....the market isn't saying our players have no value....it's saying they have a high value.

Agreed. Team Chemistry is important and screwing up a shot this year for a "nice player" or a non-lotto pick considering we already have two of those just isn't worth it.

why not sign Sheed? He has got to be better than any NBDL player and he knows Doc's system. We don't need 30 minutes a night from him.

Denver traded for two players and traded away one. Portland traded for four but only sent out two. Hopefully we can get a big from one of those teams.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Unless we sign someone big off waivers this is going to be a short run.  I will enjoy it either way.

Everybody on this post is acting like babies.
Good - got that out - so now you can all directly attack me & get your focus off DA.

None of your or me for that matter have any idea what the offers on the table were.

But I do know this.  If DA traded Paul Pierce or worse Rajon Rondo for Chris Kaman or Jamal Crawford or this non-existent big man you all seem to think we had a shot at landing.

Then everyone would have been furious and fired off on Ainge anyway.

He said "We are not going to make a deal just to make a deal."
& he stood by that.  Anyone who can't see that is just upset that we don't have much of a shot this year.

By not making a trade - Danny really is planning for the future.  There was no trade he could make to turn us into a legitimate contender this year.

So the move he made was - take the 10% chance that our beloved aging Celtics fuel up one last time before the playoffs & surprise some teams with their veteran savvy.

FYI: you all freaked out when we traded KENDRICK PERKINS for
JEFF GREEN & NENAD KRYSTIC.   Just saying, the only trade DA could have made this year.  Would have been a similar deal to that & you would have all been ripping him anyway.

Am I a Danny Ainge defender???  You better believe I am,
because without him & the moves he made,

THERE IS NO BANNER 17 hanging.

Think about that for a minute before you all respond hating on this post & continuing to bash DA & people like myself for agreeing with him.

Tell you this much, Come summer moves will be made.
Fair or bad weather
I'll always be a fan of the green
