A better question is whether or not the Celtics can win their division.  9-9 is good enough for second behind the 13-6 Philadelphia 76ers.  At their current pace, that puts the 76ers at 45 wins.  I feel confident that, barring major injury, this team will finish with more wins than the Knicks (currently third at 7-12).  Can they catch up?
this isnt football. winning the division is meaningless

Don't division winners have home court in the 1st round of the playoffs, regardless of record?

Division winners are guaranteed a top 4 seed, but if the lower seed in any matchup has a better W-L record the lower seeded team gets homecourt advantage.

This has actually happened once or twice I believe.  (Utah v. Houston a couple years back I think is one occurence)

Here's another interesting re-read

Between 33 and 37 wins. I'd bet the farm.

Probably a good thing you didn't bet that farm, eh?  ;D
