The most basic question here is: if you were Donald Sterling, would you trade Griffin for Dwight Howard?

I think the knee-jerk reaction is to say 'i'd never trade Griffin', but at closer inspection, under their circumstances, i think it's difficult to imagine not doing it.

Agreed, if you can get Dwight to commit to signing there long term.

Because of how the new trade rules work and how he has a big incentive to opt out no matter what that might make the trade unworkable. Even if Stirling could get Dwight's word and be 95% sure, that 5% risk would be hard to swallow when you are giving up Griffin.
