USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt:

Free agent guard Delonte West caught in a holding pattern. Some teams interested in him are waiting to see what happens with Chris Paul.

Depending on the dollar amount, I'd prefer to see the Celtics sign West now, regardless of how Rondo for Paul trade works out.

Sounds like the same with BBD too. We need for this to conclude soon. Can't see guys waiting a long time with Camps starting tomorrow.
That's why New Orleans and other teams want to get this done by tomorrow.

Really hope that is the case.

Wow, if that's Indy's best package, I can't see NO having any interest.  Collison's probably the most valuable piece of the bunch and, as of the last market assessment - when he was coming off a much better season, he was worth Trevor Ariza.  Adding in some mediocre picks, Brandon Rush and Hansbrough isn't enough to make the jump from MLE journeyman to 25-year old all-star.

I do like it how Bird and Indy are trying to get in on this action.

Bird is smart and he understands that Rondo is a great young piece to have. And Rondo is reasonably priced.

When Collison was playing so well for the Hornets, I think you could make the case to pay him "Rondo level" type money, but you wouldn't dare offer that to Collison now for the way he has played for the Pacers.

I also believe that Rondo prefers to run and gun way more than Paul does.

Paul's game is much like Allen Iverson...pound the ball and look for passing opportunities, if there aren't any, make or create a shot for yourself. The only difference is that CP3 is way more capable of efficiently making those shots compared to AI.

Rondo, on the other hand would probably excel even more if he were in a free-er offense where they could rely on the fastbreak even more.

I do honestly believe that there is an aspect of Rondo's game that he, himself has sacrificed playing with an aging Big 3.

Indiana need to offer more than that for Rondo, the offer will be Collison,Hibbert,Rush and a 1st round pick.

Hornets would get Green,Collison,Hibbert Clippers, Celtics 2012 picks and Pacers 2013 pick.

Aside from being a better passer, CP3 is choosier about when to shoot than AI. If the Hornets needed him to average roughly 40%-50% more points than he scores now his efficiency would take a serious hit.

Definitely, especially Pierce and Ray, who in their own ways, are very demanding offensive players at this point in their careers.  They require a lot of patience and adjustments from their point guard.  KG on the other hand is a breeze for any PG to work with.

I agree that we may not yet have seen Rondo's best and may not see it until he's surrounded by a bunch of talented young guys who can run with him.

I think he would just be devastating in this scenario.

Until I heard rumors of the Paul trade, I was really looking forward to the next generation Celtics team being an uptempo one with Rondo leading the charge.

The Fantasy team?

1. We manage to get Howard
2. Also get a PF like Josh Smith or someone else who can really get up and down the floor
3. Jeff Green at SF
4. Solid, sharp shooter at off guard
5. Rondo
6. A Bench of young guys who can also fly...
7. KG and Ray at reduced salaries off the bench

Dwight Howard / Anyone - maybe even KG here?
Josh Smith or similar / KG / JJJ
Pierce / Jeff Green / G. Brown
Sharp Shooter / Ray Allen / E'twan Moore
Rondo / Delonte / Bradley

It's good to dream...
