I wouldn't move Rondo or Paul for that package.  Collison doesn't have the instincts to be an elite point guard, in my mind; he's simply a vastly inferior player to either Paul or Rondo.  Brandon Rush is borderline garbage, and Tyler Hansborough, while a nice piece, isn't really starting caliber, let alone an impact player.

Add George to that package, and it's at least interesting.  As it currently stands, though, it shouldn't be acceptable to the Hornets.

Perhaps, but what if you add Green and/or Davis to the package going to NO?

If I'm New Orleans, I would pass, personally.  We're talk about something along the line of a quarter and three dimes for a dollar.
I think the thing that isn't being mentioned is Indiana has the cap space to take back Okafor, or Ariza who have large contract that NO would like to be rid of if they are rebuilding.

An interesting tidbit in this is that George is now untouchable?

If I'm Danny, it's looking like I am being forced to sell extremely low on Rondo at some point you have to just keep him.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Unless you are getting back a top young player (Paul, Howard, Williams), you keep Rondo.

Collison was a beast when he was in NO before in place of CP, and Hansbrough could be a borderline 20/10 guy with consistent starter minutes.  Depending on what picks were included, I think thats a deal that could look very smart in the future.

Hansbrough is a good effort guy.  A PF most teams would like off their bench.

Collison is a solid starting PG that can hang big stats playing on a bad team.

Both are nice pieces, but not centerpiece of a trade that makes Rondo or Paul move.

I think hansbrough could easily develop into a carlos boozer level player...bordering on a 20-10 every year with good energy

If you lose CP, and gain a young player with 20-10 potential, a solid starting PG, and 2 1st round picks while dropping a bad contract (ariza) from your books, I dont think it's that bad.

Obviously CP is still far and away the best single item, but thats a lot of quantity to get back.  With curry and Gordan off the table, and no interest in rondo, that might be an attractive deal.

Isn't 55 cents on the dollar better than what Toronto and Cleveland got for Bosh and Lebron? Isn't it about what Denver got for Melo and Chauncey? Isn't it the reason the Clips and Warriors aren't offering Gordon and Curry, because 55 cents on the dollar or less  is the going rate for a superstar trying to force their  way out of town while threatening to leave via free agency the next off season?

Another option could be to package Green with Rondo to Indiana and then they would be more willing to include George

So it would like this:

Boston
Paul

Indiana
Rondo
Green

NO
Collison
George
Hansbrough
Rush
1st Rd Pick Boston
1St Rd Pick Indiana

No way, he lacks the rebounding ability of Boozer. He also lacks the same ability to score efficiently against NBA level athletes.

Just not explosive enough of an athlete to get the same amount of high percentage looks.

I do think I had him wrong coming out, he's looking to be a solid PF at the NBA level.

They'd be better by calling his bluff. At the very least, they'll have a better season with him.

Those threats are less credible with the new sign-and-trade restrictions.

New Orleans shouldn't deal without getting back Rondo or Granger. Maybe a deal that includes Paul George, Hibbert and plenty of sweeteners. But I'd be surprised someone else wasn't willing to offer more.

is paul better than rondo? yes...but giving up rondo AND green for a rental seems to really hurt the future. Boston would have zero pieces to build around next season if paul left
Yet they would have unlimited cap space.

That's the whole point of a rebuilding process. Make a run at a championship, suck terribly for three years and draft a bunch of lottery players, hope they pan out, and Ta-Da. With any luck you can trade them for stars, or they're good enough to be their own stars.

Once again, to compete in today's NBA you need superstars. Rondo while great is no superstar and Green is an okay starter.

Rondo+ for Paul gives us a superstar, and a change to sign him long term. It also gives us a much better chance at other superstar free agents.

We either become a long term contender or we go full rebuild. It is much simpler than what would happen if we kept Rondo. Where we would probably make the playoffs, but never be a serious contender. I'd much rather do a full rebuild in that case.

this needs to stop. Renting Paul for 6 months is just dumb. I wish danny would have put this much time into getting a real bench because in the end that will doom the celtics this season

Do you think Paul will give up at least $25 million to leave Boston? Especially if they have a good season? Especially if Ainge is able to sign some good players with the cap space and re-sign Allen+Garnett to small deals?

Paul wants to run an gun... He doesnt want an offense full of old fogies.

I would think that if the Pacers want to play in this party, they have to take Emeka, but we'll see

Well, that's what the cap space is for.

His team played slower than the C's, his Hornets have never been fast paced. They've been in the bottom half of the league his entire career. (usually in the low 20s)

1.  On Roy's point, I completely agree.  I am seriously curious to why this is even being discussed.  I can't imagine it even being close to acceptable for NO.  I can't emphasize enough: so far that I don't even know why it's being discussed at length.

2.  On Nick's post, yes it's better, but that's in hindsight.  Toronto and Cleveland (well, Cleveland at least) thought they had a shot at retaining their stars.  The package Denver got was considerably better IMO than what Indy is reportedly offering here and Denver gave away a lesser star IMO (while adding another quality player).  But the fact that CP is going to leave his next team via free agency should definitely drive that asking price down.  With NYK, they knew they could extend him so the price should be higher than CP.  I'm not sure where I went with all this, but I think I agree with you?
