I like Melo.
I wouldn't trade Pierce and 3 1s for Melo, though.
I'd trade Ray Allen and 2 1s for Melo.

I wouldn't trade Pierce for Melo even though Melo is a spitting image of Pierce's game and younger. Pierce is more clutch than Melo but Melo certainly is better at the moment. I would trade Ray for Melo after Pierce retired but Melo and Pierce on the same team might cause some problems because they are too similar.

If we could just make this deal and then trade Rondo straight up for Brandon Jennings, we'd be Internet Undefeated!

Good work rebumping this thread, it's always fun to see these crazy trade ideas pop up again.

Rondo's waayyy better than jennings. Hope that was a joke. But for real Pierce is can still outplay melo, right now he's outscorin him an destroyed him the other night. Pierce is also more clutch in bigger moments so far.

Melo has the slight edge right now though paul is a better all around player. Defends way better, just as clutch and very crafty. Pierce gives his team more

If Pierce is not allowed to retire as a Celtic, after taking a cut in salary to do so for loyalty's sake, and after all he's done for this city, it would be the sport's crime of the decade. The Truth stays a Celtic until he's done ... any other options are out of the question. I honestly can't believe anyone would suggest this. Cappy stay in green ... period.

Nice try, but no thanks.  Heart over ego.  Boston doesn't need anyone who demands a max contract.

I would hate the Celtics if they traded Pierce, no matter what scenario

Update. Carmelo is a Knick. And is a Bum.

I wouldn't trade JO for Melo now.

Yeah, the way the Captain is playing right now? No way....I haven't seen this much swag from Paul Pierce in a while. He is just getting started, too. He will have a few more games like friday night before we bring home Banner 18, too.

Pierce is a championship level all around player.  Carmelo is still an ultra talented chucker.  Carmelo may be the "better player", but as far as fitting in and playing a role on a great team, give me Pierce any day.

So PP is way better at half of the game of basketball and just as clutch plus gives his team more.... how does melo have the slight edge? Only thing would be time remaining in career?

PP is better, he isnt as big a star but even right now he is better. He has taken melo's lunch in 2 out of 3 games and even in game 2 most of melo's scoring happened on transition 3's or on other defenders (he did hit a crazy fall away 3 and baseline turn around J on Paul though)
