I believe the pick is in 2012, so it would be next year where we would be cheering for them to finish with the 11th worst record.

And this is significant because the 2012 draft figures to be much stronger than this years draft.

With our luck with the draft, the Clippers will finish in the 11th slot then win the Lottery  ;D
That wouldn't help us because in that case, they would keep the pick.  We need the actual selection to be outside of the top 10, not just the initial position by record.

That's what Redz was saying.  Because we have bad luck, that's probably what would happen.

Of course, then maybe Danny could reverse that luck and trade the rights to the pick and a young stud (Jeff Green) to some franchise looking to off-load its aging franchise player.

or Tim Duncan  ;) then all would be right with our Lottery injustices.

Or maybe they are good until 2016 then Blake will leave and we'll get the first pick overall.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

We need them to be bad until 2016. If they're good, we'll get their pick if it's not top 10.

yea it is top 10 protected, like I mentioned in another thread it can still bring us some legit talent in th 11-18 range of the draft.

This is where Danny is at his best, he drafted both Rondo and Big Al around #15

Rondo at 21 (trade with Suns)

I understand it was a trade, but my point is Danny can spot talent when he sees it and has been pretty successful in the mid -late 1st rd.( where Rondo was drafted)

Right now they are projected at the 8th pick.  Mr. Blake might have them in the playoffs but I think there chances are less with Baron gone.  It's protected as a top ten so we want them to finish in the 11th or 12th.

I think we would get a stud there.  Not a surefire lock but with Danny I think we'd get a good player.

From Real GM

012 first round draft pick to Boston
The Los Angeles Clippers’ own 2012 first round draft pick to Boston via Oklahoma City (top 10 protected in the 2012 draft, top 10 protected in 2013, top 10 protected in 2014, top 10 protected in 2015 and unprotected in the 2016 Draft). In addition, if the Los Angeles Clippers are required to send their 2012 first round pick pursuant to the above and are also entitled to receive Minnesota’s own 2012 first round draft, then Boston via Oklahoma City shall receive the lesser of the Los Angeles Clippers’ own 2012 first round pick and Minnesota’s own 2012 first round pick. [L.A. Clippers -Oklahoma City, 6/24/2010 and then Boston - Oklahoma City, 2/24/2011]

if their reg.season record is 11 and lottery gets them 10th pick could we trade only the rights to the pick or trade down in the draft to 11 ?

No, we only get the pick if after the lottery, it is outside the top 10. Starting summer of 2012.

minnesota 2011 first round draft pick to L.A. Clippers
Minnesota's own 2011 1st round pick to the L.A. Clippers ( top 10 protected in 2011, and unprotected in the 2012 Draft). [LA Clippers - Minnesota, 8/12/2005]

clippers 2011 first round draft pick from Minnesota
Minnesota's own 2011 1st round pick to the L.A. Clippers ( top 10 protected in 2011, and unprotected in the 2012 Draft). [LA Clippers - Minnesota, 8/12/2005]

celtics 2012 first round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
[L.A. Clippers -Oklahoma City, 6/24/2010 and then Boston - Oklahoma City, 2/24/2011]

clippers most likely will have a lottery pick in 2012 from minnesota, minnesota will likely keep their pick this year and clippers will get it next year. If clippers reach the playoffs hopefully we get 11th pick,we also have our late 1st in 2012  and our own 2nd pick. That's three picks in 2012 years draft. And we own Minnesota's 2013 2nd pick.

we could trade some of these picks, especially if we owned the clippers pick that year, maybe we could offer a player ond our pick to move up in the draft or to get some player from some other team.

With the clippers pick we need to get Jimmer, just because his name is awesome.
