Danny was right about both those guys. Posey was dumped by NO when they have been trying to do anything to get talent in their for a run at the playoffs. He can't get any run in Indy and is looked at as a terrible contract.

Powe was so hurt he never even got to play...

TA was not worth the extra year and possibly hurting us from picking up a player. His PT has been inconsistent and he is now only getting minutes with Rudy Gay getting hurt.

My only beef with Danny (and this may be one of his strengths) is that he is always afraid to spend a little more just to secure a player.

I don't think it's fear and I think it is a strength.  Badly-run teams often overplay players then have to package valuable assets just to get rid of those bad contracts.  If anything, it's courageous to be willing to cut or trade popular players.

True. You guys have a good point but sometimes you just wish you could go for more than one season with the same roster. It's wishful thinking, but it would be great if this could happen one day

Very true. Just look at Detroit.

If it craps out we got a young forward we can sign now.   However, Perk is injured again.  He has rarely ever played 82 games with a history of shoulder and knee issues.

FWIW, I think Ainge's lack of sentimentality has helped and not hurt the Celtics in the long run. Between letting Antoine, Powe and Posey go...at the times, those moves seemed stupid. Now? Not so much. I trust him. Sure, he's made his bad signings (Sheed, Scal) - but really, nothing that is long term/crippling.

There's a place for the advanced statistics you seem to hold dear, but not everything can be quantified neatly onto a spreadsheet.

I never said they do. But CoachBo's claims that they are "silly" and "useless" when compared his eyes and experience is ignorant.

And that's besides the point. You're right that Green, in a better system with his athletic abilities, may become better at defense, rebounding and efficiency.

My simple point was that up until this point in their respective careers, Green, for his position, has been a weak rebounder, defender and volume shooter. CoachBo disagreed without any sort of evidence other than dismissing the numbers as useless without offering anything to the contrary and generic statements like "Sabremetrics don't tell you what he was brought here to do." - whatever that means.

When Danny uses his THREE roster spots to sign buyouts then and only then can we look at most of this trade.  He also has the clippers 1st round pick and cleveland's early 2nd round.  I am sad to see Perk go but he isn't that hard to replace.  Danny could (could) have done a deal that will win us a title this year AND improve the team for the next 4 years with drafts, green and cleared up money to sign a free agent or two.

Danny I think views this team like the 86-88 Celtics, the last run of a team full of veterans. Perk is 26, however he is an older 26. He's had 8 years of experience in the NBA and will get paid for his reputation as a defensive enforcer and stopper. But what is his true worth? Hes a top 10 center, but I would take quite a few options over him. Danny is looking to try and use the positioning at the top of the standings, to sign bought out players such as Troy Murphy that can close the gap between now and 2012. Our main target is Dwight Howard, this much has now been made clear to us. Anyone who believes that KG and Ray Allen will retire anywhere else is nuts, they'll both sign team friendly deals that allow the team to grab Howard. I do not put any stock into a "Franchise Tag", the union would never go for it after seeing all the turmoil its caused in the NBA.

If the Magic struggle out of the gate next year, the Celtics now have ammo to make this deal work. They have the Clippers 2012 1st, their own first (2 1st rounders are 2 first rounders) a 2nd rounder in 2012 from Minnesota which will still probably be a high pick. Not to mention they can trade Ray or KG's contract for Dwight next year, then Orlando would buy them out. But again this is only if Orlando just gives up and decides to build for the future.

But again this is only theories etc...
