With Yao Ming being tabbed as a starter (obviously he will be replaced) but I was thinking fans will still vote for players who have been injured during the first half of the season and have missed significant amount of games (you can insert many examples).

My suggestion is why doesn't the NBA take off player's names off the online balloting for every day they are out on injury (to avoid short term injuries, make this kick in after missing perhaps two straight games).

This would limit the amount of times fans can vote for them online. This wouldn't apply to Tao since he's still hurt but would keep out guys who are hurt and come back around the all-star break and get voted in.

It's sickening some years, some of the guys who get in.  The majority of the time, I think fans vote for players who are well deserving of being a starter for the ASG, but there's always those 1 or 2 players that you just get ticked off about being voted in...as in year's past with AI, T-Mac, and presently Yao.

I think the bulk of the starters for this year's game are deserving of being there.  The coaches will round out the roster with logical picks, as well, and of course there may be one or two guys who won't be there, but should, however due to the roster size limit, just can't be included.

I wish there was something the league could do to keep the fan voting intact, but only allow it to count for a certain percentage of the overall votes, and have another set percentage of votes go to writers and/or coaches.  However, the NBA for a good number of years has been all about being as interactive as possible for fans in different aspects.
