Its been over three years since he's been "healthy".

At some point you have to say he's not going to get there. Its a big gamble to take at the cost of another year to a terrible contract.

Agreed ... it seems it was a gamble that they lost out on. However, J-Rich instead of Vince-sanity was a great move on their part.
