I don't know why but Atlanta consider trading Josh Smith. I don't understand them at all , first they give Joe Johnson max deal now they might trade Josh Smith? that is terrible for them but if it's true we should try to get him. They need not one but two PF so we give them Glen Davis, Jermaine O'Neal, Nate Robinson + 1 round pick for Josh Smith.

Davis and O'Neal will be good for them at the PF position and they don't want to give J.Crawford new deal so Nate will be their bench scorer and posibly a starter there and we are giving them 1 round pick plus if they want we can include Daniels.

I'm torn on this one.

I really like Thompson but why has he fallen so far down the depth chart on a bad team? Maybe there is something no one knows about with this guy.

We know what we have in BBD and he fits rather nicely. I'd hold on to him.

If this conversation doesn't concern your point of view, stop jumping in and further confusing things. I tend to get involved when people make statements that have no neutral or statistical support or precedence, and, despite an absolute paucity of evidence, such people state that Davis is going to be Barkley, McHale, or Schrempf (not making any of that up). If that is not you, then don't worry about it.

Haven´t seen this post before, and since I think you`re referring to one of my earlier posts, let me say again that I was not saying Baby will be on Schrempf´s level, I said Schrempf is the perfect example of what you can accomplish in the NBA with discipline and hard work, even if you start your career as a bench player, like Schrempf did for 7 years.

Yeah, I think he is basically untradable at the moment.  In February, if Perk comes back, things could change, but right now, he is too valuable to them on the court to consider trading for anything but another big man.

I'm not comfortable trading for a player like Josh Smith and then making him come off the bench. This is not the stage in his career where that would be an option for him.

I don't see KG coming off the bench as an option either.

I don't see KG coming off the bench as an option either.

Play KG and Smith together then. KG can play most centers at a high level and Josh Smith would benefit greatly from playing with KG.

You'd have to sub in a beefier big man quickly against many teams, but other than Howard and Bogut there aren't too many match ups that'd worry me.

Atlanta is not trading Josh Smith for a backup PF/C, an injured C, a backup PG, and a first round pick.

Big Baby is not, I repeat, is not expendable.

He is our 4th leading scoring and he's coming off the bench.  He shoots 55% fg 90% FT and he gets fouled alll the time.

As far as I am concerned we have Baby for a very good price and he is playing above average.

He leads the team in charges taken.. heck I think he leads the league in charges taken or is close to the top.

I want to say that Atlanta would never do that trade, but they are the same organization that gave Joe Johnson the biggest contract signed this offseason.  They overpaid for him more than Orlando overpaid for Rashard Lewis a few years ago.

If Atlanta did this trade, I'd be all for it in a heartbeat.  But again, this is an extreme longshot.

Regarding Thompson, I'm not comfortable trading Davis for a SG/SF, unless it was a multiplayer deal that gave the Celtics improved talent.  Davis is particularly valuable this regular season so that our other bigs can rest more.
