As recently as last deadline I recall a few "how about Tony Battie" mentions.
I seem to remember a "Bring Back Lester Hudson" thread as well.

 ::)

That was probably right after his game winner for Wizards during the summer league game a couple of days ago.  Can't lie I thought to myself hmmm maybe he's worth a shot now :)

He's out there now!  He's cheap!

(He can't be any worse that Kwame, can he?)

see  ;D

He's gone.

I wouldn't have absolutely hated him as the 4th big for us and he would've been very solid as the 5th big.  Obviously, not big loss though.

Antoine Walker - the king of kings when it comes to threads about coming back to Boston. Hopefully his impending trial and possible jailtime will render these threads a thing of the past. Somehow, I doubt it will. Toine could be doing 12 years at Folsom Prison and people will still be creating the dreaded "Bring Back Antoine" threads.

Allen Iverson - if there was ever a player that embodied everything in the world that is the complete opposite of what it means to be a Boston Celtic, AI is that player. He is selfish, self centered, and neglectful. And that's just his basketball game. AI the person, let's not even go there. But he is available and all those kids who walked around in black 76ers jerseys in the late 90s and early 00s are probably still in love with his sorry act so my guess is we will still see "Get AI" threads pop up, even after he retires for good.

Shaquille O'Neal - this one is quickly becoming a thread I despise seeing. Shaq is about money and himself at this point in his career. He's old. He's makes a turtle look speedy. And he demands playing time, cash and attention above all else. I can not wait for him to sign on with someone else so this off season of "Here's another trade scenario for Shaq" can mercifully end

Tracy McGrady - these started at the the trading deadline last year and have gone tinued into this off season. TMac is a born loser of a player who has never gotten past the first round of a playoff series, is fragile and injury prone, plays defense worse than a chair, and has never seen a shot he hasn't instantly fallen in love with. The Clippers and he should be very happy together.

Tony Allen - they haven't really started yet, but they will so I am making a pre-emptive call on this one. Please, for the love of God, refrain yourself from EVER writing a "Bring Back Tony Allen" thread!!!

Billy Walker - the one that got away. The shining example of how Doc screws up by never playing young players. The "See, if Doc had played him he could have been doing this for us guy". If he gets cut by New York, which ihas more than a decent chance of happening, wait, the "Bring Back Billy Walker" threads will be in full swing.

Gerald Green - this list would not be complete without mentioning, the man, the myth, the legend, the player who will be the cause of "Bring Back" threads for the next decade at Celticsblog, Gerald Green. If I have to see one more "Bring Back Gerald" thread that is not an out and out joke, one more time......

Anyone Else From the 2007 Traded Players Group - yes that means you, Delonte, and you, Al, and you, Ryan. Love you guys but I am just sick and tired of the nostalgic look back at your losing ways and thinking that bringing you back now will somehow solve all the teams current problems.

Word.

Especially the last one. 07 is gone. Forever. Thank God.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

True.  But while I'm certainly not hearkening back to the glory days of 2007, I think it's important that we all remember that beggars can't be choosers.  And outside of Sheed's contract, we essentially are beggars on the free agent market.

So while I agree with the notion that we shouldn't be obsessive about bringing former Celtics back, if we can't get any big name swing man on the free agent market, I certainly wouldn't scoff at trade to Cleveland that netted us Shaq, Delonte, and Jamario Moon for Sheed and fillers simply because I've been annoyed by threads about Delonte and because Shaq is personally annoying.

I think you could throw in threads about Billups, Joe Johnson and Eddie House too.  Surprised no Lester Hudson or Gabe Pruitt on that list.  oh wait, Pruitt's the one ex-player besides Blount that hasn't had a 'bring back' thread yet.  nope, wait, even Skippy had bring back threads the summer before he was resigned.

Posey really should have been at the top of your list Nick.  most clamored-for ex-player we have in the past 2 years without regard to financial obligations or decreased ability.
Slam, TP4U!!!! I should be banned for a day from Celticsblog for forgetting about Posey!!

Another TP coming your way when I can because that was definitely worth double.

Bring Back Tony Battie!! We need a servicable center/forward. lol lol just joking.
I hear you I agree with about 80% of your list. I will say many of the players on your list you just simply dislike Period. AI for example. From our prior chats I believe you don't want the guy in the league much less playing for the C's.
I will definately agree with Gerald Green sentiment though. I was never high on the guy Period. Never liked him , I was one of the few & proud to predict he would be a bust. I've been wrong too. there were players I thought would help the c's in the past (cough Cough, Joe Forte) but I can Boast that I Saw from Day 1 that Green was clueless on D. Anyhow overall good thread

My original CelticsBlog handle was 'WheresTonyBattie' which was actually a legitimate inquiry, not a request for his return. But because of that I've always had a warm spot in my heart for those threads (but certainly not the idea itself).

Thanks Nick.  you've always got all the bases covered but I couldn't believe there was no Posey on that list.  I was beginning to thing you were subconsciously promoting more "bring back Posey" threads  ;)

Guarantee Bill Walker has a better year than Matt Barnes, James Posey, Ime Udoka, and any other super role player we’ve had rumors about.

This kid gets talked about like he’s Gerald Green, like we saw him screw up. I’m not saying that Doc screwed up by not playing him, i understand that championship contenders aren’t the best teams for young talent to develop on. BUT i think we’re gonna with we could have kept him.
