I don't think he's like Gerald Green.  I think he does have some inkling how to play.  He has some college experience and played very well.

Junior (2006-07): Played in and started 15 games, averaging 32.2 minutes. Averaged 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per contest. Posted a triple-double against Duquesne with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 13 blocks. Opened the season with 12 blocks and 10 rebounds in a game at Providence. Chipped in with 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks in BC’s ACC-opening game win over Maryland

I would trade Walker or Giddens for him.  Get him in here and see if he can be salvaged. Maybe being around a vet team is what he needs. If not, cut him.

He was fairly limited offensively in his days at BC and was almost always out of position defensively.  He had the blocks but it was often because he was caught out of position.  Playing at the NBA level, he's come nowhere to duplicating any of his college performances plus the competition is a lot tougher than what he was facing then.

Not too mention, he got thrown off the team and killed a team that had the potential to make the Final Four.

How did he kill a team with potential to make a final four?

Sean can't play. ;)

Seriously, though, I don't think there's much of a comparison.  On a per minute basis, Shelden leads in points, rebounds, assists, FG%, and FT%, and has fewer turnovers and personal fouls.  Sean gets more steals and has more blocks.

True, I think we all know sean is the classic "tease" with an incredible ammount of god given talent but it is very raw.

Which Williams? Sean, Shawne, or both?

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/63916/20100109/nets_and_mavericks_close_to_deal/

Regardless, neither of them have what it takes between the ears to be an NBA-caliber player.

That 2006-07 BC basketball team was a very solid basketball team with a great mix of young and experienced talent (Dudley, Marshall, Rice, etc.). They were a legitimate contender to win the ACC and expectations were high for that team to go deep into the NCAA tournament.  Williams getting booted from the team in January didn't help matters at all.

BC still ended up playing well enough to advance to the ACC semis and lost a tough one to Georgetown in the 2nd round of the NCAAs.  The loss of Williams hurt a very talented squad.

The year before he was one of the reasons they made it as far as they did.  When they lost to Nova in OT on a questionable Goaltend.  BC knew what they were getting when the lowered their academic standards to get him on the team.  Thats why that havent since.

This is the shot blocking monster from New Jersey, not the shawne williams of Dallas.

Funny, but it looks like the Nets are going to waive both of them:

I don't quite understand the Shawne Williams trade.  Why would the Nets take on Humphries' salary, which is greater than Najera's?  It seems like a pretty marginal upgrade to cut into their cap space, if only to a minor degree.

He can`t play basketball. Just doesn`t understand the game. He is the Gerald Green of centers. Great physical ability but doesn`t have any idea how to play the game...He will be out of the league in a year or two...

from what little i have read on him, he doesnt seem to value the team or team play all that much either.

"gerald green as a center" may not be a bad analogy.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Short sighted trade to help their current pathetic performances

I think it's a bad trade for both teams.

There seems to be tons of small little trades going on that would not normally happen to save minimal amounts of money. This is probably indictative of some of the larger financial problems in the nba. Hopefully the celtics can take advantage before trade deadline.
