for a thread about minutes, i dont see many stats on minutes here.
indeed, very little has been mentioned about the actual minutes played by the starters. so, just for fun and for background to this discussion...
Player - minutes for 09/10, 08/09, 07/08, & career average
Ray Allen - 35:30, 36:23, 35:30, & 37:12
Kev Garnet- 30:36, 31:06, 32:47, & 37:23
P Pierce - 35:23, 37:30, 35:53, & 37:30
K Perkins - 27:52, 29:36, 24:30, & 21:30
R Rondo - 34:23, 33:00, 29:53, & 29:23
well, according to the thread title, the big three should be playing as many minutes as last year. but the numbers say...close, but not quite.
Ray's time is down by 53 seconds.
Kevin's time is down by 30 seconds.
Paul's time is down by 2 minutes 7 seconds.
perk's minutes are down from last year, by 1 minute 44 seconds.
only Rondo is playing more minutes, 1:23 to be exact.
so, doc may be overplaying the starters, but it is not quite the same as last year.
and just for reference...
- kobe averages 37:42 this season.
- duncan averages 32:12 this season.
- nash averages 33:42 this season.
and finally, of the top 40 scorers in the nba this season, 28 (70%) of them log more minutes than any of the celtics big three.
