Me being the basketball stat nerd that I am, was checking up on Daniels' season splits and saw some interesting numbers.

6.8PPG, 3.4 RPG, 1.4 APG in 20 minutes. The really scary parts are 42.5% from the field, 42.9 from the line and 11 (!) percent from three. It's in a pretty small sample size over only 11 games, but he isn't going to start in Boston.

Seeing those numbers makes me a little nervous, I knew he couldn't shoot well but I mean Rondo is a significantly better shooter and that's saying something, and not something good.

Do we really have the depth that a lot of us think we have?
42.9% from the line?
Is that seriously his FT%?
I think Daniels is gonna be a good bench player, but not great.  He's a long way off from Posey.
I honestly think Eddie is a better player off the bench for us.

I think he's 72% FT.
Yeah I looked it up.
That's better.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I'm just not sold on the idea that we'll have a really effective bench overall, I guess.

Wow!  Our bench is so dramatically improved over last year in my opinion that I am shocked at comments like this.  What do we need on the Bench, John Havlicek, Kevin McHale, and Bill Walton?

Or is this still from the point of view that any bench without Posey isn't going to be good enough?

I for one really like our bench/overall depth.

I agree to an extent, for depth purposes.  But keep in mind, Marbury and Cassell didn't consistently beat out House the past two years.  I'm not convinced that anyone left right now will be out Eddie either.

We could use a taller back up center and a better scoring back up SF, a more defensive minded back up SG,...

If we do't win the title, it isn't going to be because of the back up PG we don't have.

I think you just explained why the got Daniels and Sheed. The veteran PG argument is well worn; but am hoping that either Lester or Dnaiels can fill the gap. Besides, as has been said many times, with Ray and PP to help bring the ball up and KG as point forward you can easily play Daniels at the point as well. This gives you a "Big" lineup that gets really interesting when Sheed comes off the bench for Perk (who is a beast - so size is relative)!

I disagree.  Both Marbury and Cassell got minutes.  They weren't nearly as valuable as House, but it was still nice to have them.

Yes it was nice to have a person used to have the ball from one side of the basket to the other.

Now I think marquis can play effectivle as a 3 and a 2  and drive from time to time

Now If hes used to play against starting players in other teams just like sheed I dont see why they will have trouble against benches.

I think on defense he'll be a good 2, but probably a mediocre 3.
