Makes no basketball sense for the Wolves. Even McHale could have done better than this.

Thomas, Songalia, Love, and Jefferson will eat up all the big men minutes. Smith has become more than expendable for them.

Telfair? Madsen? Do we really need to justify trading them?

So they got Quentin Richardson, who sucks, but gives them some wing help they need. He's an expiring contract too, so they can easily move him if needed.

They also opened up some roster spots to fill other needs on the roster, or use to sign people they are interested in.

So, I really don't understand why people don't like this deal for the Wolves.

Agreed, they're not giving up anyone of much value. Craig Smith is a solid backup big, but they're in full rebuilding mode. No reason not to move him to clear some salary.

What a poor trade for the Wolves.
Maybe the Cs can get something out of the Wolves while they are at it....

The Wolves do save a little money, but not much.  Craig Smith is the best player in the deal.

If the new GM wasn't going to have the coach play him, then they're not losing anything.

Anyone who went on vacation this week is going to have a "When did Quentin Richardson end up on the Wolves?" moment in about 4 months.

That being said, i'm glad Craig Smith gets to go home and play in front of family and friends, having followed him since his BC days, I can say he is truly one of the good guys.

Very bad trade by the Clippers. Richardson could have added more to that team than the other three combined.

Not sure who is more valuable for the Wolves ... Richardson or Telfair? Tough call.

Sideways move for both teams. It's about juggling roster spots and cap space - and maybe the locker room, not about the on court talent.

Telfair and Smith were both redundant for Minny. Smith and Gomes are both undersized fours. Smith has a decent shot getting minutes in LAC though as their fourth big. Telfair is a decent backup PG, but not starting material. Not a bad guy to have behind Baron.

This trade fills the Clips bench a bit, they don't need Richardson when you have Thornton, Gordon, and Davis around. I think this move also allows them to have some more pieces to use in order to move Camby or Kaman.

My position on the Wolves I've already stated it, solid move by them getting rid of players they won't find much use for, opening roster spots while not hurting their future finances since Richardson is an expiring.
