I don't get the whole "using Daniels as a PG thing". According to 82games.com he played a little PG in 07-08 when Indiana was desperate because all they had was Denier and Tinsley but other than that he's been a SG or SF.

Let's not confuse being able to handle the ball well with being a team's primary back up PG because he can't do that. Daniels I feel will be a great pick up to do exactly what this team needed which was spell Ray and Paul and still be effective. He's a great pick up in that sense. But this team still needs another big(Baby, Joe Smith, Rasho Nesterovic) and a back up PG.

Outside of take pressure off House with the reserves, he is not the answer for backup PG.  That's why I like a player like Carter.  Able to step in and start for short stretches.  He is not going to replace Rondo, but he would make sure the team doesn't implode because of PG play.
I like Carter and think he would be a great addition. I think Flip Murray would be another as would C J Watson but I hear he is looking Orlando's way

Daniels won't be the PG, but he'll be the slasher, similar to the role I think Danny envisioned for Tony.  Unfortunately Tony couldn't hack it as a ball-dominant player, especially with the non-existent floor-spacing we had with Baby and Powe's men clogging the middle.

Marbury was brought in to fill Tony's role, but he couldn't penetrate with a broken jumper and his inability to defend 2s made him an overall liability.

Marquis should be able to handle this role.  He can help House bring the ball-up if necessary and attack the basket in the half-court set.  It's not ideal, but it's more effective than any set-up we've had since Rondo was backing up Telfair.

Improving the 1 through free agency is difficult.  Take Flip Murray.  The guy averages like 5 fg attempts for every assist, which is really bad when you consider how ball dominant he is.  Guys like that are 1-man benches, for better or worse.  For us it would be worse.  If we're going to get a PG, it should be a real pass-first guard who can set up guys like House and Wallace.  Furthermore, he pretty much has to be big enough to guard 2s, since House can't.  Last but not least, he has to be willing to sign for small money and accept a 5-10 minute role.

I think of the names everyone has mentioned, Anthony Carter comes closest to filling these needs.  He's a feisty, pass-first guard who I could see performing well with House.  I have a hard time seeing him accepting the vet min for small minutes, since he's averaged 20+ for a winning team for two years.  If we do a sign-trade for Daniels, he'd be a nice pick-up for the LLE.
