BOS Gets: Steven Jackson, Darius Songaila, Brendan Haywood, Anthony Morrow & Kelene Azubuike and the #7 pick (GSW)
Boston Gives: Ray Allen, Bill Walker, JR Giddens
GSW Gets: Deshawn Stevenson, Mike James, Nick Young, JR Giddens and the #5 pick (WSH)
GSW Gives: Steven Jackson, Anthony Morrow, Brendan Wright and their #7 pick
WSH: Gets Ray Allen, Brendan Wright and Bill Walker
WSH: Gives: Mike James, Nick Young, Deshawn Stevenson, Brendan Haywood, Darius Songaila and their #5 pick
For Boston: We get a proven playoff vet to replace Allen in Steven Jackson (not as good a shooter, but better on defense, gives us a big wing with peirce and him), solves our backup big man woes with haywood and songaila, and gives us solid back-up SG and SF with Morrow and Azibuike.
For Golden State: They get a nice back up PG/place holder in James (as well as over $7mil in expiring deals with stevenson&james), a nice player in Young, and most importantly the ability to get a PG they want as opposed to "whatever PG is left." Most mock drafts only have the Rubio going in the top 4, but by the 7th pick you're likely going to get the 3rd or 4th best PG. Moving up two spots isnt great but it gives them a shot at the guy they really want... whoever that may be.
For Washington: They have been willing to give up the #5 pick for a veteran to help them win now and/or cap space. This is a great deal for them because they get Ray Allen, who can help them now, and his massive expiring contract. They also get Brendan Wright for their troubles. Yes, they're giving up a lot of height, but if you look at their roster, they have luxury to do so. Blatche, Javele Mcgee, Etan Thomas, Mcguire, Pecherov - they're loaded in the front court. They also shed songaila's contract.
The best part of this deal is that with the #7 pick in the draft the C's have the amazing luxury of having a lottery pick with no identifiable need;
1: Rondo
2/3: Jackson
2/3: Peirce
4: KG
5: Perk
Bench: (5)Haywood, (2)House, (3)Azibuike, (2)Morrow
We can do whatever the hell we want with the 7th pick. Pick the best available player, trade down, trade for a future #1 in a better draft... the world is our oyster! And I love that Morrow kid, he was great against us last year. AND don't we have a team option on TA's contract? If so we can just let him go to trim salary.
