From the Boston Globe:

"It was not embarrassing at all," Davis said before last night's game. "It was a lot of passion. Sometimes it's not always good passion, sometimes it's bad, but you have to learn to funnel that emotion. I was mad at myself, I just want to win and we were up. It was lack of intensity that we were bringing on the floor. I was mad at myself because I had a big part of funneling the energy on the team and my teammates hold me accountable for that. We weren't as focused as we should have been. We were up, 25-30 points, there's no way they should be getting back in the game."

Said Rivers:

"It wasn't a big deal, really. It was made big by the way it looked. I didn't mind what KG was saying at all, what he was saying was absolutely right. It just should have been a quicker conversation, but, emotionally, at the time Baby [Davis] wanted to debate it, so he got emotional. The only thing I don't like is, and I told Baby this, that if another player has to spend time calming you down, then you're a distraction at that moment.

"We are an emotional team and I want us to be an emotional team but what I don't want to see is us being a distraction to each other while the game is going on. I'm not going to get into what he was saying, it was delivered in Kevin's way, but it wasn't bad. I heard part of it and he was just being honest. When Kevin talks, it's never a personal attack, it's always what the team and group should be doing. There are days when guys don't want to hear it and that was one of those days. That's all right, message delivered. They still love him - Baby. And there's been a lot of jokes since then in the locker room. After the game, they were all laughing about it. It's an emotional game and it happens, and Glen is very, very emotional."

Sounds about right to me.  I think its time to put this incident to bed.

  • The luck of the Irish is back!
Wow, you can tell we have a good team when people are this enthralled by a little outburst by a second stringer!

I hope to see a lost more of these posts for the rest of the season...  ;D
“I thought the call that was before that was sort of a cheap call. I just came down and was frustrated. By no means was I trying to hit a fan. If anything, I was trying to get a delay of game. Unfortunately, that happened. I apologized to the little girl and her father.” - Garnett

  • No contaban con mi astucia !!!
I know this sounds ridiculous at first glance, but it's really not. It makes me sick that someone who makes even the amount Big Baby does (who's already a millionaire based on his first two years of earnings) would cry over something as relatively meaningless as a basketball related problem where he is the guilty party (yet is still not really a big deal). Most people just suck it up and move on. How come some people expect to cut their cake and eat it too in society? He should be blessed to even be on a roster like this - with 3 HOF's and rings to go around - on it.

If he isn't happy with his role with respect to the team concept, then that's too bad. Maybe that's an indication that he's losing out on the natural selection game here. We have at least 3 better big men than him, and have been in rumors off and on about another vet coming in (we had PJ Brown, have thought about McDyess). Quite frankly, when he doesn't perform, he should be put the time in the gym - notably his body. I'd say his game has regressed since his rookie year. For most, it can only go up, but not here.

Anyhow, the reason I make this beef is because it makes me angry to see such indulgent people in life when they have so much going for them. They get all the publicity, which is fine, as it's not exactly positive spotlight. But how can you be in that position, even have the size to make a big enough impact, yet play himself out of games and have the tenacity to whine and cry about it?

Okis
done
Change of heart huh?

About that
Do you know anyone who cries on his job
because hes doing mediocre
because a boss
or because a mate at job
well thats just what happens there

And is a serious job just as any other if youre a pro

Wow...I was just about to quote you on the indulgent athlete stuff, then it turned into this...Change of heart?

Anyhow...regardless of the pampered life these guys live off the court, when they're on the court we want to see them acting like the only thing that matters is winning the game.  That's a hard trick to pull off, and the most notorious pro athletes are the guys who seem to be going through the motions and just cashing a paycheck.  Say what you want about Big Baby being overly emotional in this case, but I'll take that over apathy any day.
Yup

Let's talk about the REAL thing that matters with BBD. Not him having emotions. His play is slipping because of his weight gains. It is making all of US cry... Take a look at this link to a pic of him waiting for the draft call (Couldn't figure out how to add it in here. Sorry! Let me know if you will how to...)

This puts to bed all the naysayers saying that he hasn't really added anything. This is amazing!
