I'm worried.  I think this team would be capable of winning 2 out of 4 without Rondo but I don't want to find out.

If the Lakers start to pressure the ball more that causes problems getting into our sets with House and we have seen what hte offense can look like when Sam's "heat check" is icy cold.

Rondo relies on his quickness and I can't imagine he's going to be nearly as quick on a bum ankle.  If the trainers determine it might be better for him to sit until Sunday than I hope that's what they do.  Better playing a 2-1 series without your starting PG than a 2-2 series after your PG does too much on the ankle to be effective.

It was a mild ankle sprain and the X-rays were negative. I'm not concerned. I'd be ... not just suprised but shocked if he couldn't play and couldn't perform at a good level.

Doc has said he's not playing Rondo unless he's "100%".  To me, that means he's either already made his decision (to bench Rondo) or he's talking out of his butt.

No one ever recovers 100% from a sprained ankle in under 48 hours.  It doesn't happen.

Rondo looked like he went cold in Game 3 even before the injury.  I'm afraid we are going to see more Cassell, who is in the worst shooting slump I've ever seen him in.

You can't expect Sam NOT to shoot - that's just what he does.  Not that he's even close to the same level, but he's like Bird in that regard - the philosophy is to shoot so much that you draw too much defensive attention and make the game easier for your teammates.

Trouble is, the shots aren't falling for Sam and when they are, the Fakers have a quick answer.  His name is Kobe.
God bless and good night!

Sorry to bump this  :-[ but really?  No one is concerned?
Why is Tanguay reporting that the sun is shining on Rondo right now, when the man himself says this is unlike anything he's ever felt...

I'm concerned, but I think he said that it's a different injury than what he's had before, not a worse injury.

Good point - maybe I'm worrying too much.   :)

Maybe it's a jammed ankle similar to what Ginobili had done.  If you look at the replay, his foot that got hurt was in a tippy-toe position, for lack of a better way to describe it.

Anyone know what the prognosis is on those, typically?

Really, it s a matter of degree of severity, on a 1-10 scale for want of a better metric, which will only be known at game time in that furtherest hour from the incident, taped and as he tries to cut or jump.

In any event, this is exactly why Sam was brought here, as I mentioned in those many threads on "Sam". Fine, we do have house to start in Rondos place and Sam to spell him. A stronger coaching job would dictate to Sam something like he has a cieling of 3 shots in a given 8 minute spell to reinforce his role as playmaker. He must have a better idea of the set plays by now and where he can best help facilitate the offence, I would have hopes.

A game off may be the best course with Rondo, again, depending upon the severity etc...

This reminds me of the Wolves in 2004 against the Lakers.  Losing PG's killed them that series and I hope that doesn't happen this time.  Luckily the C's have more people capable of handling the ball than that Wolves team but it's going to take much better games by KG and Pierce to get this done with Rondo being injured.

They said on SportsCenter at 6:00 that Doc had said he would consider starting Tony Allen for Rondo if he can't go.  I'm not sure if that was a legitimate report or if the reporter misspoke or what.

The difference there is that Sam Cassell was actually a GOOD player in Minnesota. Nothing like the guy we currently have here in Boston. Cassell was also arguably the second best player on that 2004 T'Wolves squad. Rondo is maybe the fourth or possibly even fifth best player on this Celtic team.

It'll effect us if he can't play, or isn't close to I'd say 90% but it probably won't turn this series like it did to Minnesota in 2004.

Oh please; This certainly must be a ruse from Doc. Dribble it off my foot Tony?  ::) Geeze, I hope he proves me wrong in my underestimation of his ball handeling capabilitys, but dear gawd don't start Tony, Doc!

Lookit, the first and foremost consideration for a guard in my E&O, is ballhandeling with close to NO T.O.s . I can live with Sam if he shoots 40% and has no T.O.s if he gets others the ball in their spots better than 50% of the trips down in 8 minutes of play, WHICH HE MUST BE COACHED TO DO!!!

I agree that it's not the same situation but I still don't like knowing what you're going to get from the PG slot.  Cassell could be hot, and he could be terrible.  As high as everyone seemed to be on Eddie the other night his shooting was not good at all either.  I'd just be a lot more comfortable knowing the guy that got us 16 assists on Sunday was still running the show.

I could also deal with an unsung hero or two if either Eddie, Sam, Tony, or whoever wants to step up.

I anticipate big games from Pierce and KG tomorrow night as well so it may not even matter. (knock on wood)

lol what are you talking about? I can tell you exactly what to expect from the PG spot...

Sam Cassell dribbles ball up court... Passes once, gets it back, dribbles to 15 feet or so and launches an airball, or if he's lucky enough the ball with go THROUGH the backboard.

I could live with Cassell missing good shots. But I can't remember the last time I saw him take a good shot. The guys kills us every time he's on the floor. And he's D's is a joke and was last night too. He gives us nothing and hurts us in every way.
