I know everyone is saying he will play, but he said he couldn't make any hard cuts and was only 50% after returning in the 4th quarter last night . I am pretty concerned about this , if Rondo can't go it's probably going to be a struggle trying to get the offense going

Hopefully Rondo can return, but if not, I am certainly not concerned with Eddie House running the show.  He is more than capable.

Actually, it kind of counters Phil's heralded move to have Kobe guard Rondo.  Let's see him leave House open to roam around and double.  We'll be good.

well if Rondo can't play, at least we have Tony Allen.  hasn't he gotten some practice at the 1?

okay, bad joke.

one of the announcers (I Think Mark Jackson) last night suggested a lineup of Pierce, R. Allen, Posey, KG and Perk to keep the defense up while spreading the floor; its not the worst idea in the world, if you noticed when Allen and House were on the floor together (ray not tony), Allen was the primary ball handler and since there wasn't too much pressure he was fine with it - this could work for short spurts if needed I think

Oh, he'll play all right. He might be tentative a little to begin the game, and, yeah, it is a problem and we can onlt wait till tomorrow, but most likely he is going to play.  I felt the turning point of the game last night was when Rondo came back in for House and Pierce came in for Posey in the fourth. Posey was playing p---a.So was House. Both were hustling and gave us a lead.

I agree about Posey.  He played great.  I think we lost it when Doc took out Posey and put in Pierce.  I really can't blame Doc for that because it's Pierce, but PP didn't have it.  Just about every time he touched the ball something bad happened.  Remember he benched Ray earlier in the playoffs in the 4th quarter because he was killing the team?  He should have done the same with Pierce.  It also would have allowed Pierce more rest for his knee for the next game.
"If somebody would have told you when he was playing with the Knicks that Nate Robinson was going to change a big time game and he was going to do it mostly because of his defense, somebody would have got slapped."  Mark Jackson

It's funny I was watching the game at the bar of a restaurant I used to work at.  It's the first playoff game that I haven't been able to hear the announcers, and I had no idea Pierce was in as much foul trouble as he was.  So I was thinking Doc was just doing a nice job reading his players by leaving Posey in and taking Posey out because Pierce clearly didn't have it last night.  I was hoping he would have the guts to stay with Posey for that very reason.  Little did I know his hand was forced ;)

You'll also notice all the posts today about how Doc went away from Ray when he was hot in the 2nd half. Since he was the primary ballhandler he was less likely to get open looks or come off screens. Although he missed both of the 3s he took in the 4th quarter, I think he got both of them when Rondo was in for his brief stint.

It was JVG that suggested that.  A few posters on this site have also suggested this lineup at times throughout the year.  I wouldn't try this unless Fisher were on the floor though - Farmar/Sasha are simply too quick for Ray.
God bless and good night!

I am betting that a 22 year old can bounce back from what does not seem to be a real deep sprain. He will play.

We've also seen Pierce take it up the floor, I am pretty sure.  I would be fine with that lineup above, but the thing that is nice about Rondo is his ability to penetrate and throw the Lakers out of their D.  PP can do this, but not as well as Rondo.

I'm surprised I haven't seen anything on here about Rondo's blog post last night on YardBarker. I guess their ad placement is real effective...  ::) ;D

Anyways,
Quote from: Rajon Rondo
If you were watching the game you know that I injured my ankle in the third quarter. It happened on a fast break and I rolled it. I think I may have stepped on someone's foot, but I still haven't seen the play. It's a different feeling than I've ever had. I've injured my ankle before but this one is unlike the others. The pain is on the inside of my foot. All the other ankle sprains have been on the outside. I will be getting a lot of treatment tonight, tomorrow, Thursday to try to get it ready to go for game 4.

For the guy that said something about expecting a 22 year old to recover quickly - age has no correlation into how bad he will heal.

I'm not feeling all that great about this right now.
God bless and good night!

Sorry to bump this  :-[ but really?  No one is concerned?
Why is Tanguay reporting that the sun is shining on Rondo right now, when the man himself says this is unlike anything he's ever felt...
God bless and good night!

I'm concerned, but I think he said that it's a different injury than what he's had before, not a worse injury.

Good point - maybe I'm worrying too much.   :)

Maybe it's a jammed ankle similar to what Ginobili had done.  If you look at the replay, his foot that got hurt was in a tippy-toe position, for lack of a better way to describe it.

Anyone know what the prognosis is on those, typically?
God bless and good night!
