Idk about others but I am usually not able to come here anymore. Like maybe once or twice a day like right now I can connect but otherwise I get the same error message and such other times.

Yesterday I could connect here once in the evening, and then today I haven't been able to until now
I'm in the same boat.  I have the reddit site saved but really hope something can be done to keep this site going

The Reddit site is no replacement for this.  Really, really hope the recent issues get resolved.  I?m patient - idc how long it takes, I want this site to continue.  Glad to have Reddit to check in but this site needs to stay.

reddit is garbage. hot garbage. period. end of story. for anything.

Well, the good news is that Reddit isn't intended as a replacement or anything outside of being a communication forum for site news that people can turn to whenever the dinosaur crashes.

finding new forum software that is compatible with php/phpBB (which I assume ours is)

I think that this is part of the problem.  We run SMF (Simple Machines), which from what I understand isn't easily compatible with phpBB.

Then, before byennie took over, several tech guys that didn't completely know what they were doing, attempted various fixes, which didn't necessarily help.

A transition from SMF to a different bulletin board system is probably possible, but it would take somebody with SMF experience.
